Implementing the WHO Safe Childbirth Checklist modified for preterm birth: lessons learned and experiences from Kenya and Uganda

Summary: This study describes the use of a modified version of the WHO Safe Childbirth Checklist (SCC) to improve intrapartum care in East Africa. The results of the study indicate that adaptation and improvement of the checklist is feasible and important, and that its clinical utility can be enhanced by adding prompts specific to different contexts.
