Model selection characteristics when using MCP-Mod for dose-response gene expression data

Julia C. Duda et al.

Summary: This study extends the application of MCP-Mod to in vitro gene expression data and evaluates its characteristics in model selection for concentration gene expression curves. The results show that the popular sigmoid Emax model is frequently selected for less noisy data, while simpler models like the linear model are often chosen for more noisy data without significant performance advantage. Surprisingly, the commonly used standard Emax model performs poorly.

Comparison of observation-based and model-based identification of alert concentrations from concentration-expression data

Franziska Kappenberg et al.

Summary: The study compared the observation-based and model-based approaches in concentration-response studies in toxicology, finding that the model-based approach tends to overestimate the alert concentration less often and provides more valid estimates, especially for genes with large variance.
