Summary: This research presents the synthesis of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and chitosan (CS) coated magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles (NPs) through co-precipitation technique. The objective was to investigate the catalytic and antibacterial efficacy of CS/PVP-Fe3O4 and PVP/CS-Fe3O4 using molecular docking analysis. The findings showed that the coating of PVP and CS reduced the particle size of Fe3O4, increasing catalytic and antibacterial potency.

Efficient antibacterial activity enhancement in Fe/Mn co-doped CuS nanoflowers and nanosponges

Summary: A hydrothermal route was used to synthesize Fe/Mn co-doped CuS nanoflowers with high surface area and different Fe concentrations (1, 3, and 5%) and constant Mn concentration. The nanoparticles were analyzed using various techniques and showed a hexagonal structure. The synthesized nanoparticles had a flower-like morphology. The absorbance spectra of the nanoparticles exhibited an irregular change in energy gap with increasing Fe doping in CuS. The Fe/Mn co-doped CuS showed significant antibacterial activity against E. coli, S. aureus, and P. aeruginosa at high Fe dopant concentration.

Investigation of crystalographic, morphological and photocatalytic behaviour of Ag doped CuS nanostructures

Summary: In this study, intrinsic and extrinsic Cu1-xAgxS nanostructures were successfully synthesized and characterized. It was found that CuS nanostructures had a flower-like morphology, while Cu0.9Ag0.1S nanostructures had a rod-like morphology. Spectroscopic studies revealed that the synthesized nanostructures exhibited broad absorption in the visible range, making them promising visible light photocatalysts. Photocatalytic experiments showed that the 0.1% Ag-doped CuS nanostructures exhibited the highest degradation efficiency for methylene blue dye, highlighting their potential as efficient and cost-effective nanocatalysts for wastewater treatment.

Summary: Pure and nickel-doped copper sulfide nanostructures were prepared by hydrothermal method and their structural, morphological, and optical properties were studied. It was found that nickel doping concentration influenced the morphology of the nanostructures, and the optical band gap energy of the samples increased with increasing nickel concentration. The antibacterial activity of copper sulfide nanostructures against different bacteria was evaluated, showing stronger activity against gram-positive bacteria at low concentrations.

Influence of cobalt doping concentration on ZnO/MWCNTs hybrid prepared by sol-gel method for antibacterial activity

Summary: Recent studies have shown that the size of Zinc Oxide NPs is determined by the concentration of precursor in the synthesis of Co doped-ZnO/MWCNTs. Increasing the concentration of cobalt has been found to increase the crystalline size average. Additionally, UV-Vis spectra revealed that band gap values of the hybrid nanostructures decrease with increasing cobalt-doping concentration, leading to high absorption and antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Comparative study between pure and manganese doped copper sulphide (CuS) nanoparticles

Preparation and characterization of CdS prepared by hydrothermal method

Summary: This study investigated the effect of Cd2+ source concentration on various characteristics of CdS films prepared by hydrothermal technique. The films exhibited a unique structure with a mix of cubic and hexagonal system, as revealed by X-ray diffraction and FE-SEM analysis. Changing the CdSO4 molarity reduced the electrical resistivity, and the best ratio of photocurrent to dark current was found in films prepared with 0.12 M CdS. This suggests that such films can be valuable for photodetector device applications.
