2D-imaging of absolute OH and H2O2 profiles in a He-H2O nanosecond pulsed dielectric barrier discharge by photo-fragmentation laser-induced fluorescence

Dirk van den Bekerom et al.

Summary: In this study, pulsed dielectric barrier discharges (DBD) in He-H2O and He-H2O-O-2 mixtures were investigated using temporally and spatially resolved quantitative 2D imaging of the hydroxyl radical (OH) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The main findings revealed that the addition of 5% O-2 decreased the OH densities and increased the H2O2 densities, while the H2O2 in the He-H2O-O-2 mixture showed relatively little sensitivity to the additional pulses.

Validation of in situ diagnostics for the detection of OH and H2O2 in liquids treated by a humid atmospheric pressure plasma jet

Steffen Schuettler et al.

Summary: A humid atmospheric pressure plasma jet was used to treat an aqueous liquid, and the transport of hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl from the plasma to the liquid was analyzed. Two in situ liquid diagnostics for each species were compared and validated. The results showed good agreement between the different methods used for detection.

The localised density of H2O2 in the effluent of a cold atmospheric pressure plasma jet determined by continuous-wave cavity ring-down spectroscopy

S. -j. Klose et al.

Summary: In this study, a time-efficient method using continuous-wave cavity ring-down spectroscopy at a wavelength of 8.12 μm was presented to determine the local distribution of gas phase H2O2 in the effluent of a cold atmospheric pressure plasma jet. The results showed that H2O2 is significantly generated within the plasma zone of the plasma jet. This work is an important step towards understanding the formation and consumption mechanisms of biomedically relevant species in the plasma zone and the effluent of a cold atmospheric pressure plasma jet.

Cold atmospheric plasma therapy in wound healing

Sunil Kumar Dubey et al.

Summary: Cold atmospheric plasma therapy is a novel, simple, non-invasive treatment approach mainly used in wound healing. It is distinct from blood plasma and is generated as the fourth state of matter through irradiation or electric field. This review emphasizes the application of cold plasma in wound healing, discussing wound types, healing process, and mechanisms of cold atmospheric plasma therapy.

Ar metastable densities (P-3(2)) in the effluent of a filamentary atmospheric pressure plasma jet with humidified feed gas

S. -J. Klose et al.

Summary: The density of Ar(3P2) metastable in the effluent of the cold atmospheric pressure plasma jet kINPen was studied as a function of feed gas humidity and gas curtain composition. It was found that with the addition of water to the feed gas, the excitation dynamics changed, leading to a reduction in the production and lifetime of Ar(3P2), resulting in decreased density near the nozzle.

Chemical kinetics and density measurements of OH in an atmospheric pressure He + O2 + H2O radiofrequency plasma

Alexandra Brisset et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of adding oxygen and water vapor to helium plasma on the density of OH, revealing that the addition of O-2 leads to a significant increase in atomic oxygen density. The simulations show that OH, O, and O-3 densities can be controlled relatively independently over a wide range of conditions through the addition of multiple gas admixtures.

Atomic oxygen density determination in the effluent of the COST reference source using in situ effective lifetime measurements in the presence of a liquid interface

Brayden Myers et al.

Summary: In this study, the absolute densities of atomic oxygen in several helium-based admixtures in the effluent of the COST Reference Microplasma Jet were measured using two-photon absorption laser induced fluorescence (TALIF) technique. The presence of a water surface was found to reduce O densities close to the liquid interface. The effective lifetimes of the laser-excited 3p(3)P(J) state of atomic oxygen in the effluent were also recorded, contributing to significant improvements in the accuracy of the atomic oxygen density calibration.
