Identification of a DEAD-box RNA Helicase BnRH6 Reveals Its Involvement in Salt Stress Response in Rapeseed (Brassica napus)

Xianduo Zhang et al.

Summary: This study identified a protein called BnRH6, which when overexpressed in rapeseed and Arabidopsis, resulted in increased sensitivity to salt stress. The study also found that BnRH6 can regulate a group of genes related to salt tolerance, negatively affecting rapeseed's adaptability to salt stress.

Rice for Food Security: Revisiting Its Production, Diversity, Rice Milling Process and Nutrient Content

Nur Atikah Mohidem et al.

Summary: Rice is a vital food source for over half the world's population, providing essential nutrients and antioxidant properties that can help prevent cardiovascular disease and diabetes. This review highlights global rice production, consumption, and nutritional values, as well as introducing a new method for storage, drying, and grading of rice. It also discusses the environmental impacts of rice cultivation and policy directions.

Phenotypic and transcriptomic analysis reveals early stress responses in transgenic rice expressing Arabidopsis DREB1a

Yasmin Vasques Berchembrock et al.

Summary: This study investigates the early responses associated with the expression of Arabidopsis dehydration response element binding 1a (DREB1a) in transgenic rice. The findings demonstrate that DREB1a can be co-localized with other genes to enhance multigenic traits. The transgenic rice lines showed improved tolerance to salinity stress and water withholding. RNA sequencing and transcriptome analysis revealed complex transcriptional networks and metabolic reprogramming induced by DREB1a expression. Additionally, potentially novel pathways, such as jasmonate, auxin, and ethylene signaling, were identified, along with the upregulation of multiple transcription factor gene families.

BrRH37, a Cabbage (Brassica rapa) DEAD-Box RNA Helicase, Confers Drought Tolerance and ABA Response in Transgenic Arabidopsis Plants

Ghazala Nawaz et al.

Summary: RNA helicases are cellular proteins that play a crucial role in regulating post-transcriptional mRNA metabolism in response to abiotic stress. This study investigated the functional role of a cabbage DEAD-box RH, BrRH37, in abiotic stress and ABA responses, and found that it may enhance plant growth and survival by its RNA chaperone activity.

Overexpression of differentially expressed AhCytb6 gene during plant-microbe interaction improves tolerance to N2 deficit and salt stress in transgenic tobacco

Ankita Alexander et al.

Summary: The research shows that Stenotrophomonas maltophilia has the potential to promote plant growth through interaction with Arachis hypogaea, particularly under N-2 starvation and salt stress conditions. By analyzing gene expression differences and conducting functional validation, it was found that overexpression of the AhCytb6 gene can regulate the expression of various genes to enhance plant growth.
