Comparison of expression profiles between undifferentiated and differentiated porcine IPEC-J2 cells

Guolin Pi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the expression profiles and differentiation process of IPEC-J2 cells at the transcriptional level. The results showed that a large number of DEGs were identified, enriched in pathways related to cell differentiation, cell death and proliferation, and cell junction complexes. The increased alkaline phosphatase activity and apoptotic cell percentage indicated the differentiation of IPEC-J2 cells after 14 days of culture. In addition, genes like STAT1, AKT3, and VEGFA were speculated to play important roles in the differentiation of IPEC-J2 cells.

Biomedical application of Indole-3-carbinol: A mini-review

Alka Ashok Singh et al.

Summary: Indole-3-carbinol (I3C) is a plant-derived phytochemical produced from cruciferous vegetables, with multiple biological activities such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activities. Regular consumption of I3C-containing vegetables can decrease the rate of various types of cancer.

Entry, egress and vertical transmission of SARS-CoV-2

Hui Zhang et al.

Summary: The high infectivity and pathogenicity of SARS-CoV-2 have caused the devastating COVID-19 pandemic, leading to enormous loss of life, global economic slump, and psychological damage. Infected pregnant women have been shown to transmit the virus vertically to their fetuses, posing a challenge for disease prevention. Infected neonates and children display milder clinical symptoms and lower fatality rates, highlighting the need for effective treatment options.

COVID-19 and the gastrointestinal tract: Source of infection or merely a target of the inflammatory process following SARS-CoV-2 infection?

Jacopo Troisi et al.

Summary: Gastrointestinal symptoms are common in COVID-19 patients, supported by the detection of viral RNA in stool indicating a possible fecal-oral transmission route. Gut dysbiosis may be correlated with disease severity in COVID-19 patients.
