Acute effect of high-intensity interval training versus moderate-intensity continuous training on appetite perception: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Mingzhu Hu et al.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to compare the impact of high intensity interval training (HIIT) and moderate intensity continuous training (MICT) on appetite perception. The study found that both HIIT/SIT and MICT suppressed appetite immediately post exercise, but there were no significant effects 30-90 min post exercise or in AUC values, indicating a transient effect of exercise on appetite sensations. Moreover, HIIT/SIT showed a greater suppression of hunger compared to MICT 30-90 min post exercise.

Comparison of Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis with DXA in Adolescents with Cystic Fibrosis before and after a Resistance Training Intervention

Clifton J. Holmes et al.

Summary: The purpose of this pilot study was to compare body composition metrics obtained by two portable bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) devices with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) among adolescents with cystic fibrosis (CF). The results showed that portable BIA results should be interpreted with caution, and further validation studies in CF patients are needed prior to clinical use.

High-intensity interval training elicits more enjoyment and positive affective valence than moderate-intensity training over a 12-week intervention in overweight young women

Feifei Li et al.

Summary: The study aimed to compare the differences in enjoyment and affect in response to different weight control intervention protocols. The results showed that interval training, especially the long-interval type, was an enjoyable and pleasant long-term exercise intervention for overweight young women. Repeated sprint training could also be an alternative for weight control.

Effects of Exercise Alone or in Combination with High-Protein Diet on Muscle Function, Aerobic Capacity, and Physical Function in Middle-Aged Obese Adults: A Randomized Controlled Trial

K. -J. Hsu et al.

Summary: For middle-aged obese adults, exercise combined with a high-protein diet not only improved muscle power and exercise capacity, but also enhanced their functional physical performance. The study suggests that this combination may be beneficial for improving overall physical health in this population.

Eat, Train, Sleep-Retreat? Hormonal Interactions of Intermittent Fasting, Exercise and Circadian Rhythm

Sandra Haupt et al.

Summary: The circadian rhythmicity of endogenous metabolic and hormonal processes is crucial for overall health. Adjusting the timing of diet and exercise can help reset disrupted circadian pacemakers and potentially prevent metabolic diseases. However, these lifestyle interventions cannot address the underlying issue of the misalignment between our biological and social time.
