Comment on: Quasi-periodic and chaotic structure of Alfven waves in a plasma containing double spectral distributed electrons [Phys. Plasmas 29, 122103 (2022)]

Prasanta Chatterjee et al.

Summary: El-Labany et al. recently published a paper in Phys. Plasmas about the quasi-periodic and chaotic structure of Alfven waves in a plasma with double spectral distributed electrons. This Comment points out some fallacies in their work.

Quasi-periodic and chaotic structure of Alfven waves in a plasma containing double spectral distributed electrons

S. K. El-Labany et al.

Summary: This study investigates the nonlinear characteristics of Alfve?n waves in a plasma medium composed of double spectral electron distribution and positive and negative ions, deriving a Korteweg-de Vries (KdV-type) equation and exploring periodic and soliton structures. The effects of spectral indices r and q on periodic structures are studied, with findings indicating an increase in amplitude of rarefactive periodic waves with higher r and q values. Additionally, external perturbations are considered, leading to discussions on quasi-periodic and chaotic structures of Alfven waves. It is observed that decreasing the beta value gradually shifts periodic structures to chaotic structures via quasi-periodic ones.

Multiperiodic and chaotic wave phenomena of collective ion dynamics under KP-type equation in a magnetised nonextensive plasma

Asit Saha et al.

Summary: In a magnetized electron-ion plasma, the dynamics of small-amplitude ion-acoustic waves were studied under the KP-type equation, where electrons follow a q-nonextensive distribution. By varying parameters, different dynamical features such as periodic, multi-periodic, quasiperiodic, and chaotic ion-acoustic wave phenomena were observed. The ratio between ion gyro frequency and ion plasma frequency was found to play a key role in the existence of ion-acoustic chaotic wave phenomenon. Additionally, the presence of higher order periodic trajectories indicates chaotic behavior.

Quasi-periodic, chaotic and travelling wave structures of modified Gardner equation

Adil Jhangeer et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the nonlinear modified Gardner equation through Lie group analysis, converting partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations using similarity reduction method and constructing exact solutions using power series technique. The Galilean transformation is used to transform the model into a planar dynamical system, and various types of phase portraits are plotted with sensitivity analysis and the application of extrinsic periodic power to study the influence on the model's behavior.
