Cilia-driven flow analysis of cross fluid model in a horizontal channel

Hina Sadaf et al.

Summary: This report presents a comprehensive analysis of the laminar cross fluid model with cilia-driven flow in a horizontal channel, discussing the development, results, and comparisons with peristaltic channels. The study utilizes non-Newtonian rheologies and transforms the equations of momentum and energy into ordinary differential equations. Numerical solutions are obtained using MATLAB's bvp4c technique, and graphical representations of stream function, velocity, pressure rise, and pressure gradient are provided. The proposed model focuses on the transportation of fundamental substances through ductus efferentes, considering the potential chemical reactions. The findings offer valuable insights for understanding the cilia's role in chemical impacts within the human body.

Inclination-Enabled Generalized Microfluid Rectifiers via Anisotropic Slippery Hollow Tracks

Suwan Zhu et al.

Summary: Inspired by the structures on rice leaves and the slippery surfaces of the pitcher plant, anisotropic slippery hollow tracks (ASHTs) are fabricated to create a unique inclination-enabled bubble diode that allows reversible one-way bubble penetration. This technology demonstrates a wide range of microfluid maneuvering capabilities and can be applied in various fields, such as smart buildings, for heavy oil selective penetration, underwater CO2 gas collection, and dry/wet environment management.

A coupled peridynamics-smoothed particle hydrodynamics model for fracture analysis of fluid-structure interactions

Zili Dai et al.

Summary: In this paper, a numerical model that combines peridynamics (PD) with smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) is proposed for fracture modeling in fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems. PD is used to simulate solid structure fracture while SPH is used to model fluid behavior. The validation of the models is performed qualitatively and quantitatively through simulations of benchmark tests. The results show good agreement with experimental observations, demonstrating the accuracy of the coupled PD-SPH model in simulating FSI problems.

Mixed convective cilia triggered stream of magneto ternary nanofluid through elastic electroosmotic pump: A comparative entropic analysis

Sufian Munawar et al.

Summary: The integration of ternary nanofluid with micro-pump heat sink for heat exclusion is studied in this work. Theoretical thermal analysis is conducted to investigate the mixed convective transport of radiated magneto ternary fluid through an electroosmotic pump. The use of biomimetic cilia on the pump surface is proposed to achieve efficient mixing and effective pumping. The ternary nanofluid, consisting of TiO2, SiO2, and Al2O3 nanoparticles mixed with blood, shows superior thermal efficiency and the ability to minimize heat losses compared to binary and unary nanofluids. The exergy analysis further confirms the enhanced heat transfer rate of the ternary nanofluid, especially at a smaller Hartmann number of 0.5.

Insight into the cilia motion of electrically conducting Cu-blood nanofluid through a uniform curved channel when entropy generation is significant

A. Riaz et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effects of cilia beating phenomenon in the human stomach on blood flow, focusing on entropy generation effects and irreversibility comparison in Cu-blood nanofluid flow through a curved channel. By transforming the equations and using perturbation technique (HPM), the system of ordinary differential equations is solved to obtain expressions for velocity, stream functions, pressure gradient, and thermal profile. Key findings include the impact of magnetic field on flow speed and system temperature, as well as the reduction of entropy by diminishing magnetic field effects and viscous dissipation. More research can be done by considering microorganism effects in three-dimensional geometries with cilia at the boundaries.

A mathematical model for radiative peristaltic flow of Jeffrey fluid in curved channel with Joule heating and different walls: Shooting technique analysis

Zahid Hussain et al.

Summary: The peristaltic phenomenon is widely used in bio-mechanics, industries, and biological sciences. This theoretical analysis focuses on the peristaltic flow of magnetized Jeffery fluid through a curved channel with heat transfer. The study finds that the temperature decreases with increasing viscoelastic parameter, the heat transfer coefficient increases with the radius of curvature, and the fluid velocity decreases in the lower half of the channel and increases near the upper wall.
