On sequential measurements with indefinite causal order

Masashi Ban

Summary: This study examines two projective measurements performed sequentially on a quantum system with completely indefinite order. The interference of different orders allows for the determination of the Kirkwood-Dirac distribution of the quantum system being measured, enabling the extraction of a weak value of an observable without the need for weak measurement. In an interferometric setting, the Kirkwood-Dirac distribution can be constructed from conditional visibility and phase shift.

Detecting violations of macrorealism when the original Leggett-Garg inequalities are satisfied

Shayan Majidy et al.

Summary: This paper examines violations of macroscopic realism (MR) in a wider range of data sets and conditions. By exploring different data sets and LGIs, it is found that standard LGIs cannot completely detect violations of MR. The study also discusses possible experimental implementations in various scenarios in a spin-1 system.

Leggett-Garg tests for macrorealism: Interference experiments and the simple harmonic oscillator

J. J. Halliwell et al.

Summary: LG tests are used to explore quantum coherence on the macroscopic scale, with examples from interference experiments and harmonic oscillator systems. Violations of LG inequalities are found to be accompanied by destructive interference, with nontrivial regimes where destructive interference exists but the inequalities are satisfied. Recent analyses on Mach-Zehnder interferometers show similar features, while surprising relationships between LG inequalities and NSIT conditions are observed for non-dichotomic variables. Further analysis on a simple harmonic oscillator demonstrates two-time LG violations with a gaussian initial state.
