SwinBTS: A Method for 3D Multimodal Brain Tumor Segmentation Using Swin Transformer

Yun Jiang et al.

Summary: Brain tumor semantic segmentation is a critical task in medical image processing. This research proposes SwinBTS, a new approach that combines transformer, convolutional neural network, and encoder-decoder structure for 3D brain tumor segmentation. Experimental results demonstrate that SwinBTS outperforms state-of-the-art 3D algorithms for brain tumor segmentation on 3D MRI scanned images.

A Robust Volumetric Transformer for Accurate 3D Tumor Segmentation

Himashi Peiris et al.

Summary: We propose a Transformer architecture for volumetric segmentation, which effectively balances encoding local and global spatial cues and preserving information along all axes of the volume. The encoder benefits from self-attention mechanism to capture both local and global cues, while the decoder utilizes a parallel self and cross attention formulation for fine detail refinement. Experimental results demonstrate that our design choices lead to a computationally efficient model, achieving competitive and promising results on the Medical Segmentation Decathlon (MSD) brain tumor segmentation (BraTS) Task. Moreover, our model exhibits robustness against data corruptions. The code implementation of our model is publicly available.

Annotation-Efficient Learning for Medical Image Segmentation Based on Noisy Pseudo Labels and Adversarial Learning

Lu Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an annotation-efficient learning framework for medical image segmentation, utilizing an improved GAN to learn from unpaired medical images and auxiliary masks to generate high-quality pseudo labels. Additionally, a noise-robust learning method is introduced to effectively overcome the effect of noisy pseudo labels, achieving segmentation performance comparable to that of learning from human annotations without using annotated training images.
