Optomechanical Ground-State Cooling in a Continuous and Efficient Electro-Optic Transducer

B. M. Brubaker et al.

Summary: The study presents an efficient and continuously operating electro-optomechanical transducer that has been optically sideband cooled to its quantum ground state, achieving a maximum efficiency of 47% and minimum input-referred added noise of 3.2 photons. In comparison with conventional platforms, this transducer has lower thermal occupancy and higher efficiency.

Optomechanical interface between telecom photons and spin quantum memory

Prasoon K. Shandilya et al.

Summary: The article presents a new method based on cavity optomechanics that utilizes the susceptibility of spin qubits to control electronic spins of nitrogen vacancy centres in diamond. This method does not involve qubit optical transitions and can be applied to solid-state qubits in a wide variety of materials, expanding the toolbox for quantum information processing.

Direct observation of deterministic macroscopic entanglement

Shlomi Kotler et al.

Summary: In this study, two mechanical drumheads with masses of 70 picograms were deterministically entangled using pulsed electromechanics. Quantum state tomography was performed through nearly quantum-limited measurements, allowing for the direct observation of entanglement. These entangled macroscopic systems are expected to be used in fundamental tests of quantum mechanics, enable sensing beyond the standard quantum limit, and function as long-lived nodes in future quantum networks.

Quantum mechanics-free subsystem with mechanical oscillators

Laure Mercier de Lepinay et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates a method to measure an oscillator without quantum back-action by constructing an effective oscillator. By using two micromechanical oscillators, it was possible to achieve a quantum mechanics-free subsystem and measure two collective quadratures with an 8-decibel improvement while evading quantum back-action. The direct verification of quantum entanglement of the two oscillators was also achieved by measuring the Duan quantity 1.4 decibels below the separability bound.
