Tests of Lepton Universality Using B0 → KS0l+ l- and B+ → K*+l+l- Decays

R. Aaij et al.

Summary: This study presents tests of lepton universality in B-0 -> K(S)(0)l(+)l(-) and B+ -> K*(+)l(+)l(-) decays, where l is either an electron or a muon. The differential branching fractions of B-0 -> K(S)(0)e(+)e(-) and B+ -> K*(+)e(+)e(-) decays are measured using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment. The results are consistent with the standard model and previous tests of lepton universality, and the first observations of B-0 -> K(S)(0)e(+)e(-) and B+ -> K*(+)e(+)e(-) decays are reported.

QED in (B)over-bar →<(K)over bar>l +l- LFU ratios: theory versus experiment, a Monte Carlo study

Gino Isidori et al.

Summary: Using meson effective theory and a Monte Carlo framework, this study investigates the QED corrections in (B) over bar (0) -> (K) over barl+l(-). The comparison with the general-purpose photon-shower tool PHOTOS shows a good agreement in the rare mode, and interference effects in the dilepton invariant mass region are found to be small. The impact of charmonium resonances is also discussed.

Precision measurement of the W boson decay branching fractions in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV

A. Tumasyan et al.

Summary: The leptonic and inclusive hadronic decay branching fractions of the W boson were measured using proton-proton collision data collected at p s = 13 TeV by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC. The results indicate that the branching fractions of the W boson decaying into electron, muon, and tau lepton final states are consistent with lepton flavor universality for the weak interaction. Additionally, several standard model quantities were determined based on the hadronic branching fraction.

R. Aaij et al.

Summary: The branching fraction of the rare B-s(0) -> phi mu(+)mu(-) decay was measured using data from the LHCb experiment, showing a significant deviation from the standard model prediction. Additionally, the first observation of the rare B-s(0)-> f(2)' (1525)mu(+)mu(-) decay was reported with a statistical significance of 9 standard deviations.

Test of lepton flavor universality and search for lepton flavor violation in B → Kll decays

Y. Li et al.

Summary: The paper presents measurements of the branching fractions for B meson decays to K meson and lepton pairs mu(+/-)mu(-/+) and e(+/-)e(-/+), and their ratio R-K. The RK ratio is measured in five different bins of dilepton invariant-mass-squared q(2), and all results are consistent with Standard Model predictions. Additionally, searches for lepton-flavor-violating B -> K mu(+/-)e(-/+) decays were conducted, with upper limits set on the branching fraction at 90% confidence level.

Angular Analysis of the B+ → K*+μ+ μ- Decay

R. Aaij et al.

Summary: In this study, an angular analysis of the B+ -> K*(+)(-> K-S(0)pi(+))mu(+) mu(-) decay was conducted using data from the LHCb experiment. Local deviations from standard model predictions were observed, similar to previous analyses of related decays. The global tension depends on the effective couplings considered and the choice of theory nuisance parameters.

Test of the universality of τ and μ lepton couplings in W-boson decays with the ATLAS detector

G. Aad et al.

Summary: The standard model of particle physics summarizes our current best understanding of physics at the smallest scales, and through experimental measurements, it has been found that the coupling of different generations of leptons to electroweak gauge bosons is universal. Utilizing data from proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at 13 TeV, our measurement results are in agreement with the assumption of universal lepton couplings in the standard model.
