The role of Li+ interstitial ions in up-conversion intensity of CaF2:Yb3+, Tb3+ phosphors

M. Y. A. Yagoub et al.

Summary: In this study, CaF2 nanocrystals doped with Yb3+, Tb3+, and Li+ ions were investigated to study the correlation between their structural, electronic, and up-conversion emission properties, focusing on the role of Li+ ions in enhancing the up-conversion intensities. The results showed that Li+ ions doping plays a vital role in enhancing both blue and green emission intensities under 980 nm excitation wavelength.

Tuning the Oxidation States of Dopants: A Strategy for the Modulation of Material Photoluminescence Properties

Estelle Glais et al.

Summary: Doped single-phase materials are widely studied due to their easy synthesis and diverse properties. Tuning the oxidation states of dopants opens up possibilities for optimizing specific properties for various applications. Techniques for quantifying each valence state of dopant and high throughput methods are crucial for the discovery of efficient materials with dopants in multiple valence states.

Upconversion Luminescence of Silica-Calcia Nanoparticles Co-doped with Tm3+ and Yb3+ Ions

Katarzyna Halubek-Gluchowska et al.

Summary: Biocompatible nanoparticles with upconversion properties were prepared by the sol-gel method, using silica-calcia glass nanopowders doped with varying concentrations of Tm3+ and Yb3+ ions. The structure, morphology, and optical properties of these nanoparticles were characterized, including the observation of Tm3+ characteristic emission bands at different active ion concentrations. The energy transfer mechanism between Yb3+ and Tm3+ ions in the SiO2-CaO powders was studied through luminescence decay kinetics.
