Hydrogen-like donor impurity states in strongly prolate ellipsoidal quantum dot

D. B. Hayrapetyan

Summary: In this article, the binding energy and impurity-related photoionization cross-section are investigated for hydrogen-like impurity states in a strongly prolate ellipsoidal quantum dot with an infinite confinement potential well model. The behavior of the oscillator strength for quantum transitions between impurity and non-impurity states is also considered for different incident light angles and geometrical parameters.

Modeling of the Stark shift and binding energy of shallow donor-impurity in GaAs/Al0.3Ga0.7As core/shell quantum disk: effects of lateral directed applied electric field including the core/shell sizes

Ibrahim Maouhoubi et al.

Summary: In this paper, we investigated the Stark shift and binding energy of a shallow donor-impurity in (GaAs/Ga1-?Al?As) core/shell quantum disk. The results showed that the orientation of the applied electric field and the size of the quantum disk have significant effects on both the Stark shift and impurity binding energy. These findings are important for advancing the understanding of Stark shift and impurity binding energy in quantum dots.

Optoelectronic Properties of a Cylindrical Core/Shell Nanowire: Effect of Quantum Confinement and Magnetic Field

Mohamed El-Yadri et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of quantum size and an external magnetic field on the optoelectronic properties of a cylindrical AlxGa1-xAs/GaAs-based core/shell nanowire. The Hamiltonian of an interacting electron-donor impurity system was described using the one-band effective mass model and two numerical methods were employed to calculate the ground state energies: the variational and finite element methods. The system's cylindrical symmetry revealed transcendental equations due to the finite confinement barrier between the core and the shell, leading to the concept of the threshold core radius. The results demonstrate that the optoelectronic properties strongly rely on core/shell sizes and the external magnetic field strength, with the electron's maximum probability of occurrence depending on the threshold core radius value. This threshold radius separates two regions with different physical behaviors, while the applied magnetic field acts as an additional confinement.

Core-shell type-II spherical quantum dot under externally applied electric field

V. A. Holovatsky et al.

Summary: This study presents a simple model to describe the impact of electric field on the energy structure and electron quantum transitions in CdSe/ZnTe and ZnTe/CdSe quantum dots. The results show that the externally applied electric field affects the absorption coefficient and oscillation strength, causing a shift of absorption peaks to the low-energy region in the quantum dot spectra.

Combined effects of hydrostatic pressure and electric field on the donor binding energy, polarizability, and photoionization cross-section in double GaAs/Ga1-xAlxAs quantum dots

Ayoub Ed-Dahmouny et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the theoretical calculations of the ground-state binding energy, photoionization cross-section, and polarizability of a shallow impurity under the combined effects of an electric field and hydrostatic pressure. It reveals that the electric field intensity and impurity position have an impact on the binding energy and photoionization cross-section, while variations in hydrostatic pressure and electric field affect the polarizability of the impurity.

Core-shell quantum dots: A review on classification, materials, application, and theoretical modeling

Anupam Sahu et al.

Summary: The review article discusses the importance of core-shell quantum dots (CSQDs) in modern applications, including solar cells, LEDs, and luminescent solar concentrators. The classification and applications of CSQD systems, as well as the role of the shell, are highlighted. The article also explores the effects of strain, carrier dynamics, and bandstructure alterations in optoelectronic devices. Additionally, different theoretical modeling techniques for different shapes of CSQD systems are presented, along with a detailed discussion on the theoretical modeling of quantum dot solar cells and the limitations based on modification in the recombination current density.

Nonlinear optical characteristics of thermodynamic effects- and electric field-triggered Mathieu quantum dot

M. K. Bahar et al.

Summary: This work investigates the optical properties of quantum dots with Mathieu potential and central impurities under the influence of temperature, hydrostatic pressure, and external electric field. The study computes the total refractive index and total absorption coefficient using the compact density matrix formalism and iterative method. The response of the optical properties to external and structural parameters is examined, and for the first time, the effects of central impurities on the optical properties of Mathieu quantum dots are theoretically considered.

Binding energy and photoionization cross section of hydrogenic impurities in elliptic cylindrical core/shell quantum dots under a non-axial electric field

Lei Shi et al.

Summary: The behavior of a donor impurity confined in an elliptic cylindrical core/shell quantum dot under a non-axial electric field is influenced by various factors such as core and shell sizes, ellipticity, electric field direction, and impurity position. The binding energy and photoionization cross section in different conditions show significant variations due to the shape of the core/shell quantum dot.

Impurity Photoionization Cross-Section and Intersubband Optical Absorption Coefficient in Multilayer Spherical Quantum Dots

Summary: The energy spectrum, wave functions, and binding energies of an electron with a donor impurity ion in a multilayer spherical quantum dot were studied. The study found that changes in the width of the external potential well affect the localization of the electron and significantly impact the binding energy, photoionization cross section, and absorption coefficient. Results provide insights into the effects of impurities and changes in the quantum dot size on optical properties.
