V101I and R81T mutations in the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor β1 subunit are associated with neonicotinoid resistance in Myzus persicae

Xiao Xu et al.

Summary: The R81T and V101I mutations in Myzus persicae are associated with neonicotinoid resistance. The resistance of AH19-T and AH19-I strains to neonicotinoids is mainly caused by these mutations, while the resistance of AH19-TI strain may be influenced by changes in cytochrome P450 monooxygenases and nAChR expression.

The Toxicity, Sublethal Effects, and Biochemical Mechanism of β-Asarone, a Potential Plant-Derived Insecticide, against Bemisia tabaci

Ran Wang et al.

Summary: This study found that beta-asarone has strong lethal effects on B. tabaci and does not show cross-resistance to other tested insecticides. Sublethal treatment of beta-asarone led to prolonged developmental duration and decreased survival rates in B. tabaci nymphs, pseudopupae, and adults. It also resulted in a reduction in oviposition duration, fecundity, and hatchability. Enhanced detoxification through P450 enzymes may be involved in the observed sublethal effects.

Long-term studies on the evolution of resistance of Myzus persicae (Hemiptera: Aphididae) to insecticides in Greece

John T. Margaritopoulos et al.

Summary: Studies have shown that the peach aphid in Greece has developed medium to high levels of resistance to multiple insecticides, with a significant increase in resistance to neonicotinoids over the past decade. The difficulty in controlling the aphid makes the design and implementation of integrated pest management programs challenging. Resistant populations of the aphid emphasize the dynamic nature of resistance, requiring continuous monitoring over time and space.

Resistance status of Myzus persicae to pesticide and its relationship with enzymes

Summary: This study determined the resistance of three Myzus persicae populations in different tobacco-growing areas in China to five different insecticides, and found that the Liuyang population had high resistance to Imidacloprid, while the Longshan population showed low resistance to Phoxim. Field populations of aphids exhibited higher activity of detoxification, protective, and digestive enzymes compared to susceptible populations. The study also found significant correlations between enzyme activity and resistance to different insecticides, providing a basis for predicting regional resistance and delaying evolution of resistance in the field.
