A pH-responsive MOF for site-specific delivery of fungicide to control citrus disease of Botrytis cinerea

Xuqian Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a pH-sensitive controlled-release nano-capsule containing the fungicide Boscalid was developed using metal-organic framework (MOF). The nano-capsule showed higher antifungal effect and lower bio-toxicity compared to commercially available products. The release of Boscalid from the nano-capsule was more rapid under acidic conditions, and it demonstrated 4-6 times greater antifungal effect against Botrytis cinerea. This research proves the potential of using Boscalid@ZIF-67 as a nanoparticles platform for smart control of fungal diseases, and it also has the ability to improve traditional modalities in an economic and ecological manner.

Antiproliferative potentials of chitin and chitosan encapsulated gold nanoparticles derived from unhatched Artemia cysts

Devendrapandi Santhana Panneer et al.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis, characterization, and testing of photon induced gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) encapsulated in chitin and chitosan derived from unhatched Artemia cysts. The chitosanAuNPs exhibited a potential cytotoxic effect against human lung cancer cells (A549) compared to chitin-AuNPs. The findings suggest that these biopolymers have the potential to be used as anticancer agents with specific applications in biomedical imaging and drug delivery.
