New and Updated Recommendations for the Treatment of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis-Associated Uveitis and Idiopathic Chronic Anterior Uveitis

Ivan Foeldvari et al.

Summary: The Multinational Interdisciplinary Working Group for Uveitis in Childhood recognized the need to update current guidelines for managing children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis-associated uveitis (JIAU) and idiopathic chronic anterior uveitis (CAU). After analyzing literature and conducting a consensus meeting, 14 recommendations for JIAU and CAU treatment were accepted with over 90% agreement. This evidence-based consensus process aims to provide an updated guideline to support clinicians in caring for children and young people with CAU.

Uveitis in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis 18-Year Outcome in the Population-based Nordic Cohort Study

Veronika Rypdal et al.

Summary: The study found that 22.1% of JIA patients developed uveitis, with 2.8% diagnosed between 8 and 18 years of follow-up. Systemic immunosuppressive medication was more common among those with uveitis. Early uveitis screening and continued follow-up for more than 8 years after JIA diagnosis can help prevent potential ocular complications.
