USP18 promotes endometrial receptivity via the JAK/STAT1 and the ISGylation pathway

Xinyan Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the role and mechanism of Ubiquitin-specific protease 18 (USP18) on endometrial receptivity in goats were investigated. The results showed that USP18 promotes endometrial receptivity by regulating the JAK/STAT1 pathway and ISGylation. Additionally, the expression levels of USP18 were significantly increased during early pregnancy. Therefore, USP18 may play an important role in goat endometrial receptivity.

The USP18-FBXO6 axis maintains the malignancy of ovarian cancer

Guanchu Li et al.

Summary: USP18 is overexpressed in ovarian cancer tissues and associated with poor prognosis, mainly promoting cancer development through transcriptional regulation of FBXO6. Silencing USP18 reduces malignancy of ovarian cancer, and the USP18-FBXO6 axis may be a promising therapeutic target.

Deletion of the deISGylating enzyme USP18 enhances tumour cell antigenicity and radiosensitivity

Adan Pinto-Fernandez et al.

Summary: This study has identified novel ISGylation targets in chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML)-derived cell line, shedding light on the potential of USP18 as a cancer target for regulating antigenicity and radiosensitivity. The findings suggest that USP18 plays a crucial role in modulating immune responses and sensitivity to treatment in cancer cells.

USP18 promotes tumor metastasis in esophageal squamous cell carcinomas via deubiquitinating ZEB1

Chao Song et al.

Summary: The study indicated that high expression of USP18 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) was significantly correlated with malignant phenotype and shorter survival in patients. USP18 promotes ESCC cell metastasis by inducing ZEB1 mediated epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT).

The Ubiquitin-Specific Peptidase USP18 Promotes Lipolysis, Fatty Acid Oxidation, and Lung Cancer Growth

Xi Liu et al.

Summary: The study shows that USP18 plays a crucial role in regulating lipid and fatty acid metabolism, potentially affecting proliferation of lung cancer cells by modulating the expression of ATGL and UCP1. Moreover, the combined expression of USP18, ATGL, and UCP1 in lung cancer patients is associated with unfavorable survival outcomes.
