Expression of Treg-associated lncRNAs in breast cancer

Lina Moallemi-Rad et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the expression of five Treg-related long non-coding RNAs in breast cancer tissues. The results showed significantly higher expression levels of RMRP, TH2-LCR, MAFTRR, and GATA3-AS1 in breast cancer samples compared to non-tumoral tissues. Positive associations were found between the expression levels of RMRP and MAFTRR genes in tumor tissues and certain tumor characteristics. Additionally, differences in FLICR expression were observed among tumors with different levels of the HER2/neu receptor. These findings suggest that Treg-associated lncRNAs may contribute to the pathogenesis of breast cancer.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Changing profiles of cancer burden worldwide and in China: a secondary analysis of the global cancer statistics 2020

Wei Cao et al.

Summary: This study summarized the recent changing profiles of cancer burden worldwide and in China, revealing that breast cancer became the most diagnosed cancer globally in 2020. China accounted for 24% of newly diagnosed cases and 30% of cancer-related deaths worldwide in 2020, with a high cancer mortality rate.

Role of lncRNA BANCR in Human Cancers: An Updated Review

Bashdar Mahmud Hussen et al.

Summary: BANCR, a long non-coding RNA located in a gene desert region on chromosome 9, has been shown to play a role in tumorigenesis by affecting cell proliferation, migration, and various other processes. It has different expression patterns in various cancers, with up-regulation in some cancers and down-regulation in others. More research is needed to fully understand its specific mechanisms in different types of cancer.
