MALAT1 enhances gemcitabine resistance in non-small cell lung cancer cells by directly affecting miR-27a-5p/PBOV1 axis

Wenyu Chen et al.

Summary: MALAT1/miR-27a-5p/PBOV1 axis is implicated in NSCLC cell resistance to GEM. MALAT1 enhances NSCLC cell resistance to GEM by downregulating miR-27a-5p and targeting PBOV1, providing a potential therapeutic strategy for NSCLC.

Identification of a Metastasis-Associated Gene Signature of Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma

Suhua Gao et al.

Summary: The study identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between primary and metastatic ccRCC tumors through integrated genomic and transcriptomic analysis, showing enrichment in pathways such as ECM-receptor interaction, platelet activation, protein digestion absorption, focal adhesion, and the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. DEGs associated with tumor immune infiltrates and tumor mutation burden were found to be more likely to lead to poor prognosis of ccRCC. Seven core genes were significantly upregulated in metastatic tumors compared to primary tumors, potentially serving as novel therapeutic and early diagnostic biomarkers of ccRCC.

Guangyuan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study identified CANX, BID, NAMPT, and BIRC5 as immune-autophagy-related genes with independent prognostic value in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma. These genes were significantly correlated with immune score, immune checkpoint, iron death, methylation, and OCLR score. The risk prognostic model based on them was well constructed, and experimental results were consistent with the bioinformatics analysis.

Pseudogene HSPA7 is a poor prognostic biomarker in Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma (KIRC) and correlated with immune infiltrates

Chunjin Ding et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that HSPA7 is highly expressed in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (KIRC) and is associated with clinico-pathological features and patient survival. GSEA analysis revealed that high levels of HSPA7 in KIRC are linked to several tumor-related and immune-related pathways. Utilizing the TIMER database, it was shown that HSPA7 levels are correlated with immune infiltrating cells such as CD4(+) T cells, neutrophils, and Dendritic Cells in KIRC.

TENT4A Non-Canonical Poly(A) Polymerase Regulates DNA-Damage Tolerance via Multiple Pathways That Are Mutated in Endometrial Cancer

Umakanta Swain et al.

Summary: TENT4A plays a critical role in regulating multiple biological pathways, specifically in translesion DNA synthesis, by modulating mRNA stability and translation of DNA polymerase eta and RAD18 E3 ligase. Additionally, TENT4A indirectly regulates RAD18 through the tumor suppressor CYLD and the long non-coding antisense RNA PAXIP1-AS2, leading to dysregulation of TLS in endometrial cancer genomes.

Cul3 regulates cytoskeleton protein homeostasis and cell migration during a critical window of brain development

Jasmin Morandell et al.

Summary: De novo loss of function mutations in the ubiquitin ligase-encoding gene Cullin3 (CUL3) lead to autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Cul3 plays an essential role in regulating neuronal migration by tightly controlling Plastin3 (Pls3), which in turn autonomously regulates cell migration through actin cytoskeleton organization.

A microRNA-clinical prognosis model to predict the overall survival for kidney renal clear cell carcinoma

Yating Zhan et al.

Summary: The study identified 94 differentially expressed miRNAs between para-tumor and tumor tissues, and selected 7 miRNAs as prognostic indicators for KIRC. A risk score formula was constructed based on these miRNAs, with Kaplan-Meier analysis showing better survival probability in the low-risk group. The miRNA model was considered an independent prognostic factor and a nomogram was built to predict prognosis.

Identification and validation of the clinical roles of the VHL-related LncRNAs in clear cell renal cell carcinoma

Wuping Yang et al.

Summary: This study identified 10 VHL-related lncRNAs in ccRCC tissues and revealed their down-regulation. High expression of these lncRNAs was associated with longer overall and disease free survival, with FGD5-AS1 showing potential as a novel biomarker for ccRCC. Additionally, DNA hypermethylation was implicated in the decreased expression of FGD5-AS1.
