Sustained Flexible Photonic Transistor Memories Based on Fully Natural Floating Gate Electrets

Chun-Kai Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, an environmentally friendly floating-gate electret made entirely from biomass-derived materials was designed for photonic memories. The photosensitive hemin and its derivative protoporphyrin IX (PPIX) were successfully embedded in a polylactic acid (PLA) matrix, affecting the photosensitivity and charge-trapping capacity of the prepared electrets. The device exhibited a memory ratio of up to 2.5 x 10(7) with photo-writing-electrical-erasing characteristics, and sustained memory performance for at least 10(4) s after light removal was observed on a bio-derived dielectric flexible substrate.

Starch-Silane Structure and Its Influence on the Hydrophobic Properties of Paper

Tomasz Nowak et al.

Summary: The study shows that the silane-starch coating can improve the hydrophobic properties and durability of paper. Silanes with short aliphatic carbon chains are easily embedded in the starch structure, while those with longer side chains are primarily localized on the starch surface. The best hydrophobic properties were achieved with a combination of starch and methyltrimethoxysilane.

Biomass-Derived Degradable Poly(azomethine)s for Flexible Bistable Photonic Transistor Memories

Chun-Kai Chen et al.

Summary: This study reports on the synthesis and photonic memory applications of poly(azomethine)s (PAMs) derived from biomass. The prepared PAMs exhibited higher thermal stability and lower band gaps compared to polymers without the imine linkage. By using these polymers as electrets, high-performance organic field effect transistor memories with a large memory window and memory ratio were achieved. The flexibility and degradability of the polymers make them promising for use in flexible electronics.
