PRECISE AGE CONSTRAINTS FOR THE WOXI Au-Sb-W DEPOSIT, SOUTH CHINA

Wei Li et al.

Summary: In this study, U-Pb dating was conducted on hydrothermal apatite and wolframite from the Woxi Au-Sb-W deposit in South China using high-precision laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). The results indicate that the deposit formed during the Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous period, in contrast to previous findings based on other isotopic systems. The study also revealed the presence of two episodes of Au-Sb-W mineralization in the region, occurring during the Late Triassic and Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous.

Constraints from in-situ Rb-Sr dating on the timing of tectono-thermal events in the Umm Farwah shear zone and associated Cu-Au mineralisation in the Southern Arabian Shield, Saudi Arabia

Ahmad Redaa et al.

Summary: Constraining the tectonic history and timing of major shear zone structures in the Arabian Shield is critical for better understanding the distribution of ore deposits. In this study, in-situ Rb-Sr dating was used to determine the age of the Umm Farwah Shear Zone and the timing of Mount Ablah mineralisations. Results indicate that the shear zone was initiated at around 651 Ma, with mineralisation occurring between 626 and 611 Ma, and greisen formation at 601 +/- 12 Ma. The study also identified two main groups of mineral phases, providing insights into the tectonic history and origin of ore deposits in the Arabian Shield.

Genesis of the Lishupo gold deposit in the Jiangnan Orogen, NE Hunan (South China): Biotite Ar-Ar, zircon U-Pb ages and H-O-S-Pb isotopic constraints

Zhilin Wang et al.

Summary: The Lishupo gold deposit in South China is an orogenic gold deposit characterized by quartz veins and altered slates. The deposit went through three stages of mineralization, with metallic minerals including pyrite and arsenopyrite. The ore-forming fluids and metals were derived from a deeper metamorphic source, indicating a typical orogenic gold mineralization process.

Huajie Tan et al.

Summary: The Xiaojiashan gold deposit in the northeastern Hunan region is characterized by multi-stage pyrite formation. It is likely associated with early metamorphism and late magmatic-hydrothermal overprinting, and its ore-forming process recorded the complexity of gold mineralization in NE Hunan.

A general ore formation model for metasediment-hosted Sb-(Au-W) mineralization of the Woxi and Banxi deposits in South China

Huan Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the metasediment-hosted Sb-(Au-W) deposits in the Jiangnan Orogen and establishes a general ore formation model for this type of deposit. The results suggest that early-stage gold mineralization may be related to orogeny, while late-stage antimony mineralization may be influenced by deep granitic magmatism. Local metasedimentary rocks and granite magmatism provide metals and ligands for mineralization, with magmatic fluids playing an essential role in late-stage ore formation.

A TRIASSIC OROGENIC GOLD MINERALIZATION EVENT IN THE PALEOPROTEROZOIC METAMORPHIC ROCKS: EVIDENCE FROM TWO TYPES OF RUTILE IN THE BAIYUN GOLD DEPOSIT, LIAODONG PENINSULA, NORTH CHINA CRATON

Jiahao Zheng et al.

Summary: In this study, LA-ICP-MS analysis of rutile grains in the Baiyun gold deposit revealed their formation processes of metamorphism and hydrothermal activity. The U-Pb ages of the rutile grains indicated a Paleoproterozoic metamorphic event and a Triassic hydrothermal gold mineralization event. Additionally, the trace element contents of rutile could be used to distinguish different generations of rutile. The research also suggested that the gold mineralization in the Baiyun deposit is associated with Triassic orogenic metamorphism, rather than the regional Mesozoic magmatism.

Pyrite textures, trace element and sulfur isotopes of Yanlinsi slate-hosted deposit in the Jiangnan Orogen, South China: Implications for gold mineralization processes

Yuce Zhang et al.

Summary: The study analyzes the pyrite in the Yanlinsi gold deposit using petrography, LA-ICP-MS, and LA-MC-ICP-MS. The results reveal the texture, trace elements geochemistry, and sulfur isotopes of pyrite, and identify five types of pyrite representing multistage hydrothermal evolution. The study also provides insights into the enrichment and precipitation mechanisms of gold and arsenic during the hydrothermal evolution, as well as the deep ore causative magmas as the sulfur source of the Yanlinsi ore.

Triassic multistage antimony-gold mineralization in the Precambrian sedimentary rocks of South China: Insights from structural analysis, paragenesis, 40Ar/39Ar age, in-situ S-Pb isotope and trace elements of the Longwangjiang-Jiangdongwan orefield, Xuefengshan Mountain

Yi Zheng et al.

Summary: The Xiangzhong Basin and Xuefengshan Mountain in South China are world-class producers of antimony (Sb) and associated gold (Au). This study focuses on the Longwangjiang-Jiangdongwan ore field in this region to investigate the accumulation process and metal-fluid sources of the Sb-Au deposits. The results suggest that the Sb-Au mineralization occurred in multiple stages from the Early Triassic to the Late Triassic. The gold precipitation was found to be significantly earlier than the Sb ores. The sulfur in the deposits originated from bacterial sulfate reaction and underwent thermochemical sulfate reaction during subsequent tectonic-metamorphic hydrothermal activity. Lead isotope compositions indicate that the lead primarily came from the host slate and underlying basement. In conclusion, this study provides insights into the formation of Sb-Au deposits in the Xiangzhong Basin and Xuefengshan Mountain.

Origin of the Woxi orogenic Au-Sb-W deposit in the west Jiangnan Orogen of South China: Constraints from apatite and wolframite U-Pb dating and pyrite in-situ S-Pb isotopic signatures

Junfeng Dai et al.

Summary: This paper reports the in situ analysis results of minerals closely related to gold mineralization in the Jiangnan Orogenic Belt (JOB) of South China, shedding light on the controversial origin of ore fluids and metals and their relationship with the subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate. The study suggests that the gold deposits in the Jiangnan Orogenic Belt formed from subcrustal processes involving the metasomatized upper mantle, which was initially formed during the plate subduction leading to the formation of the JOB.
