Simulations of surface plasmon resonance sensor based on v-shaped microstructured optical fiber for temperature and refractive index sensing

Wandi Zhang et al.

Summary: A v-shaped MOF-based SPR sensor is proposed for simultaneous measurement of temperature and RI. The v-shaped structure simplifies the sensor fabrication by conveniently coating it with a gold layer. The simulation results show that the v-shaped structure can support two polarized resonance peaks with different response characteristics for temperature and RI changes, with temperature coefficients of 11.8 and 6.2pm/degrees C for x- and y-polarized peaks, and RI coefficients of 1408 and 1505nm/RIU for x- and y-polarized peaks, respectively.

Orthogonal-Sided Polished Microstructured Optical Fiber-Based SPR Sensor for Simultaneous Measurement of Temperature and Refractive Index

Nannan Luan et al.

Summary: This study proposes a concept of orthogonal-side polished microstructured optical fiber (MOF)-based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor to simultaneously sense two parameters. The theoretical investigation of two feasible structures, L-shaped MOF-based and rectangular MOF-based SPR sensors, shows that these sensors can support resonance peaks of different polarizations for measuring and separating variations of temperature and refractive index. The proposed sensors exhibit good temperature and refractive index coefficients, which can be further improved by selecting appropriate structure parameters.

Side-Opening Grapefruit Fiber-Based SPR Sensor for Simultaneous Measurement of Refractive Index and Temperature

Xianxing Ji et al.

Summary: A novel side-opening grapefruit fiber-based SPR sensor is designed for simultaneous measurement of refractive index (RI) and temperature. The variations of RI and temperature lead to the shifts of two resonance peaks, which can be used to determine the variations of RI and temperature. The simulation results show different sensitivities of Peak I and Peak II to the changes of RI and temperature.

Dual-parameter sensor for simultaneously measuring refractive index and temperature based on no-core fiber and SPR effect

Zhiyong Yin et al.

Summary: In this study, a dual-parameter sensor based on a no-core fiber and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) is proposed, which can simultaneously measure temperature and refractive index. The sensor utilizes metallic silver to excite the SPR effect and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) as a temperature-sensitive material. Numerical results show that both temperature and refractive index can be accurately reflected in the same spectrum without interference. The sensor has a simple structure and offers the advantage of dual-parameter measurement, making it highly suitable for applications in biochemical detection, environmental monitoring, and medical sensing.

Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor Based on Double-Sided Polished Microstructured Optical Fiber With Hollow Core

Donglian Hou et al.

Summary: The surface plasmon resonance sensor based on double-sided polished microstructured optical fiber with hollow core is proposed for refractive index sensing, which utilizes two gold films as microfluidic sensing channels for the analyte. The sensor demonstrates narrower resonance spectral width and greater phase sensitivity compared to the D-shaped design, with good stability under fabrication tolerances.
