High-precision micro-displacement measurement in a modified reversal shearing interferometer using vortex beams

Hongwei Gao et al.

Summary: We propose a novel micro-displacement measurement system based on vortex beam interference. The system uses a modified reversal shearing interference structure to measure the micro-displacement in the light path. The system achieved high-accuracy measurement with an error of less than 0.067 nm using a vortex beam with a topological charge of six. This system has a simple structure and is significant for the miniaturized design of high-precision displacement sensors.

Single-shot spatiotemporal plasma density diagnosis using an arbitrary time-wavelength-encoded biprism interferometer

Youjian Yi et al.

Summary: This article introduces a new method for capturing ultrafast micron-scale dynamics called the arbitrary time-wavelength-encoded biprism interferometer (TWEBI). TWEBI generates a time-wavelength-encoded pulse train using cascaded frequency-doubling crystals with slightly different phase-matching angles and independent delay lines. The experiment demonstrated that TWEBI can capture 12 frames in a single shot, with an effective frame rate of 5 trillion frames per second (Tfps), a temporal resolution of 200 fs, and a spatial resolution of 4 μm. The time window of TWEBI can be adjusted from sub-picosecond to nanosecond timescales, making it a practical and feasible diagnostic scheme for complex transient dynamics.

Nano-Displacement Measurement System Using a Modified Orbital Angular Momentum Interferometer

Huali Lu et al.

Summary: A nano-displacement measurement system based on a modified Mach-Zehnder interferometer was proposed and demonstrated theoretically and experimentally, achieving stable and robust interference patterns. By introducing a reflection module and a novel phase-demodulation method, tiny displacements ranging from 50 to 800 nm were successfully measured with a resolution of about 50 pm. This approach may have applications in ultra-high precision displacement sensors as well as temperature, strain, and refractive index sensors.

From concept to reality: computing visual vortex beam interferometer for displacement measurement

Lei Zhang et al.

Summary: The article discusses macro displacement measurement with a vortex beam interferometer, resolving three factors limiting large displacement measurements. A new method for high sensitivity and large displacement measurements is proposed by using small topological charge numbers. A virtual moire pointer image immune to beam misalignment is suggested for calculating displacements, with an absolute benchmark found for cycle counting in the moire pointer image of fractional topological charge.

Orbital-angular-momentum beams-based Fizeau interferometer using the advanced azimuthal-phase-demodulation method

Huali Lu et al.

Summary: A compact and stable Fizeau interferometer based on orbital angular momentum (OAM) beams is proposed and demonstrated in this study. A phase-demodulation method operating in the domain of the OAM complex spectrum is also proposed. This provides a robust alternative for accurately extracting the phase from the OAM interferogram.

Radius of curvature of spherical wave measurement based on vortex beam interference

Dong Yang et al.

Summary: A new method for measuring the radius of curvature of spherical waves was proposed, using vortex beam interference and Fermat's spiral fitting, providing a large measurement range and high precision. Theoretical analysis showed a correlation between interference light intensity and Fermat's spiral, with experimental results indicating higher accuracy and wider range compared to traditional methods.
