Mueller-matrix imaging polarimetry elevated by wavelet decomposition and polarization-singular processing for analysis of specific cancerous tissue pathology

Anton Sdobnov et al.

Summary: Mueller-matrix polarimetry is a powerful method for visualizing malformations in biological tissues and quantitatively evaluating disease progression. This study aims to improve the method by implementing wavelet decomposition and polarization-singular processing for differential diagnosis of local changes in tissue structure. The results show that the developed approach can accurately identify and assess benign and malignant states of prostate tissue.

Optical anisotropy composition of benign and malignant prostate tissues revealed by Mueller-matrix imaging

Oleksii Sieryi et al.

Summary: A Mueller matrix imaging approach is used to reveal the three-dimensional composition framework of optical anisotropy in cancerous biotissues. The spatial architecture of optical anisotropy is characterized by high-order statistical moments, enabling the quantitative analysis of the spatial distribution and discrimination of different types of cancer. Compared to other optical diagnostic modalities, this approach demonstrates higher accuracy and has the potential for wider application in cancer diagnosis and tissue characterization.

Polarization-probe polarization-imaging system in near-infrared regime using a polarization grating

Moritsugu Sakamoto et al.

Summary: A polarization-probe polarization-imaging (PPPI) system has been developed for the near-infrared (NIR) regime, allowing the capture of polarization images under polarized light illumination. By utilizing a polarization generator and analyzer, this system can fully measure the Stokes parameters with high extinction ratio. Experimental results show the feasibility of the PPPI system and emphasize the dependence of polarization images on the state of polarization (SoP) of the illuminating light. The PPPI system has great potential for various polarization imaging applications.

Skin Complications of Diabetes Mellitus Revealed by Polarized Hyperspectral Imaging and Machine Learning

Viktor Dremin et al.

Summary: Protein glycation and dysfunction of collagen-containing tissues play a significant role in the development of various pathological conditions. Through photonics-based technology and machine learning, a diagnostic approach capable of evaluating skin complications of diabetes mellitus at an early stage has been introduced, showing the ability to differentiate diabetic and control groups. The development of polarization-based hyperspectral imaging technique with artificial neural network implementation provides new perspectives in the study and diagnosis of age-related diseases.
