Enhancing the Up-conversion luminescence using All dielectric Three-Dimensional multiscale anodized aluminum oxide nanowire structure

Prince Gupta et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates a significant enhancement of upconversion luminescence (UCL) of core shell NaYF4:Yb3+,Tm3+/NaYF4 UCNPs by utilizing a three-dimensional nanowire topography. The unique topographies of the nanowire structures play a crucial role in enhancing UCL, with structural parameters such as wire length and surface topography being key factors.

Cellphone-based attomolar tyrosine sensing based on Kollidon-mediated bimetallic nanorod in plasmon-coupled directional and polarized emission architecture

Aayush Rai et al.

Summary: In the past decade, various interfacial materials have been explored for improved sensor performance in nanoplasmonics. However, the use of gold in surface plasmon-coupled emission (SPCE) platform is limited due to its quenching phenomenon. This study presents a frugal and bio-friendly technique using the widely available co-polymer kollidon (R) to obtain silver-gold nanohybrids, and demonstrates their potential in fluorescence enhancement and mobile phone-based detection of amino acids.

Resonant Control and Enhancement of Upconversion Luminescence of NaYF4:Yb,Er Nanoparticles on Metal Gratings

Wen Luo et al.

Summary: In this study, high-Q plasmon resonance modes at emission wavelengths on metal gratings were used to control and enhance the upconversion luminescence (UCL) of NaYF4:Yb,Er nanoparticles. The results showed that when plasmon resonance modes were located at or near the green or red emission wavelengths, the UCL was significantly enhanced and the green-to-red intensity ratio was altered. Furthermore, it was discovered that localized plasmon resonance modes in grooves of the metallic gratings played an important role in UCL emissions.

Remarkable enhancement of up-conversion luminescence by attenuated total reflectance structure

Yao Zhou et al.

Summary: In this paper, a method using Kretschmann ATR structure to enhance the UCL of NaYF4:Yb3+, Er3+ nanoparticles is reported, and the enhancement is achieved through surface plasmon waves and guided waves. The UCL intensity of the nanoparticles under the first-order guided wave mode is 200 times higher than direct excitation. It is also found that the reflected upconverted light spectra vary from red to green with the detection angle of the ATR system.

Mei Lin et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates optical temperature sensing based on UCNPs with enhanced sensitivity through dielectric superlensing modulation, resulting in over a 70% increase in thermal sensitivity of the composite film compared to without the superlens. This enhancement is attributed to the modulation of the dielectric superlensing effect on the wave front of upconversion ultraviolet fluorescence.
