Hyperaccurate Ribosomes for Improved Genetic Code Reprogramming

Bipasana Shakya et al.

Summary: The introduction of noncanonical amino acids has facilitated advances in synthetic biology and peptide drug discovery. However, the competing processes of readthrough and dropoff can be problematic for challenging noncanonical amino acids. This study reveals the extent of these pathways and demonstrates that hyperaccurate ribosomes can improve yield and fidelity. These findings are important for synthetic biology.
