ADAPTIVE SYMPLECTIC MODEL ORDER REDUCTION OF PARAMETRIC PARTICLE-BASED VLASOV-POISSON EQUATION

Jan S. Hesthaven et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a reduced order model for the parametric Vlasov-Poisson equations to reduce the number of simulated particles and computational cost. The model adopts a nonlinear reduced basis approach and combines adaptive parameter sampling and hyper-reduction techniques to accelerate the evaluation of the nonlinear operators.

A review of machine learning methods applied to structural dynamics and vibroacoustic

Barbara Zaparoli Cunha et al.

Summary: Machine Learning (ML) has been widely used in Structural Dynamics and Vibroacoustic (SD & V) with the advantage of modeling physical phenomena using only sampled data. This paper surveys the application of ML algorithms in three classical problems of SD & V: structural health monitoring, active control of noise and vibration, and vibroacoustic product design. The methodologies are analyzed and their strengths and limitations are discussed, along with the potential of digital twins and physics-guided ML in future research.

A note on the use of Dynamic Mode Decomposition in mechanics

Summary: We advocate for the use of Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD) in mechanics, which allows for the prediction of temperature fields, estimation of natural frequency, identification of plasticity onset, and generation of reduced-order models for nonlinear elastic structures.

Bilinear Systems With Initial Gaps Involving Inelastic Collision: Forced Response Experiments and Simulations

Kohei Noguchi et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the forced response of a two degrees-of-freedom (DOF) bilinear oscillator with initial gaps involving inelastic collision. The experimental verification of the generalized bilinear amplitude approximation (BAA) method is emphasized in the accurate estimation of forced responses for bilinear systems with initial gaps. Both experimental and numerical investigations have been conducted, showing good agreement between the results especially at resonance. Spectral analyses reveal the presence of super-harmonic components in the spectra within a frequency range where intermittent contact between the masses occurs.
