Special scattering regimes for conical all-dielectric nanoparticles

Alexey V. Kuznetsov et al.

Summary: All-dielectric nanophotonics allows for unique optical effects in semiconductor and dielectric nanoresonators, opening up new opportunities for applications in nano-optics, biology, and sensing. This study investigates fabrication-friendly truncated cone resonators and discovers several important scattering regimes without the need for complex geometries or structured beams.

Super-resolved discrimination of nanoscale defects in low-dimensional materials by near-field photoluminescence spectral imaging

Jiatai Huang et al.

Summary: This study reports on the super-resolved discrimination of nanoscale defects in low-dimensional materials using near-field photoluminescence (NFPL) spectral imaging. By analyzing the light emission properties, different defects such as stacks, bubbles, and wrinkles can be identified, which are strongly correlated with exciton emission modulation and tensile strain arising from local structural deformations.

Investigating the probe-tip influence on imaging using scanning near-field optical microscopy

Panji Achmari et al.

Summary: The influence of the near-field probe-tip on a model sample with one-dimensional apertures was investigated using scanning near-field optical microscopy (SNOM). The study showed that the probe-tip has a profound effect on the shape of the measured transmission intensity profiles. By considering the near-field perturbations introduced by the probe, a newly developed FDTD model facilitated quantitative analysis of SNOM data and offered new insights into near-surface, subwavelength optical interactions.
