Current view on post-stroke dementia

Jakub Dros et al.

Summary: Post-stroke dementia is a common complication affecting about one third of survivors, with higher risks of mortality, disability, and institutionalization. The etiology of PSD may involve complex factors such as vascular brain pathology or Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore, PSD may coexist with other neuropsychiatric disorders, with its association with post-stroke depression being particularly significant.
