Neurodynamics-driven portfolio optimization with targeted performance criteria

Jun Wang et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a neurodynamic optimization approach for portfolio selection with targeted performance criteria. The problems are formulated as variable weight optimization to maximize five risk-adjusted performance criteria within the mean-variance framework and reformulated as iteratively weighted convex optimization problems. Additionally, distributed portfolio optimization problems with separable performance criteria are also addressed. Three neurodynamic approaches based on globally convergent recurrent neural networks are developed to solve these problems. Extensive experimental results using 13 datasets of world stock markets demonstrate the superior performance of the neurodynamic approaches compared to baselines in terms of evaluation criteria and investment returns.

Fixed-time synchronization of discontinuous competitive neural networks with time-varying delays

Caicai Zheng et al.

Summary: This article investigates the fixed-time (FXT) synchronization of discontinuous competitive neural networks (CNNs) with time-varying delays. Two types of discontinuous FXT control schemes are proposed, and two forms of Lyapunov function based on p-norm and 1-norm are constructed to analyze the FXT synchronization of CNNs. By employing nonsmooth analysis and inequality techniques, simple criteria for achieving FXT synchronization and an upper bound of the settling time with less conservativeness are derived. The effect of time scale on FXT synchronization of CNNs is also considered, and numerical results for an example are provided to validate the theoretical findings.
