Osteopontin promotes hepatocellular carcinoma progression through inducing JAK2/STAT3/NOX1-mediated ROS production

Qipeng Wu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that osteopontin (OPN) promotes hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression by increasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) production through upregulating the expression of NADPH oxidase 1 (NOX1) and activating the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway. Disruption of the OPN/NOX1 axis might be a promising therapeutic strategy for HCC.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

EZH2-TROAP Pathway Promotes Prostate Cancer Progression Via TWIST Signals

Lu Jin et al.

Summary: TROAP is overexpressed in prostate cancer and is associated with tumor progression and poor patient survival. Knockdown of TROAP inhibits proliferation and invasion of DU145 and PC3 cells, potentially through modulation of MMP-9 and E-Cadherin. TROAP is identified as a driver of prostate cancer development and progression, providing a new target for treatment.

Fenofibrate Exerts Antitumor Effects in Colon Cancer via Regulation of DNMT1 and CDKN2A

Rui Kong et al.

Summary: Through bioinformatics analysis and in vitro experiments, fenofibrate was found to regulate cell cycle, promote apoptosis, suppress cell proliferation, and inhibit epithelial mesenchymal transition by activating PPARA, potentially serving as a therapeutic agent for colon cancer patients.
