Enhanced superconductivity in spin-orbit proximitized bilayer graphene

Yiran Zhang et al.

Summary: A study finds that placing monolayer tungsten diselenide (WSe2) on bilayer graphene can enhance Cooper pairing and increase the critical temperature of superconductivity. The superconducting state exhibits polarized spin-valley flavors and occurs only under perpendicular electric fields that push graphene hole wavefunctions towards WSe2, indicating a key role of proximity-induced (Ising) spin-orbit coupling. These results pave the way for engineering robust, highly tunable, and ultra-clean graphene-based superconductors.

Half-Integer Conductance Plateau at the ν=2/3 Fractional Quantum Hall State in a Quantum Point Contact

J. Nakamura et al.

Summary: We investigate the transmission of edge states through quantum point contacts and observe an intermediate conductance plateau at G = 0.5(e^2/h). This plateau is consistent with full reflection of an inner counterpropagating -1/3 edge mode while the outer integer mode is fully transmitted. Another quantum point contact with a softer confining potential displays an intermediate conductance plateau at G = (1/3)(e^2/h), supporting a model in which the edge transitions from a structure with an inner upstream -1/3 charge mode and outer downstream integer mode to a structure with two downstream 1/3 charge modes.

Isospin magnetism and spin-polarized superconductivity in Bernal bilayer graphene

Haoxin Zhou et al.

Summary: Spin-polarized superconductivity is observed in Bernal bilayer graphene under a large applied perpendicular electric field. Electrostatic gate tuning leads to transitions between electronic phases with different polarizations in the spin space. A transition to a superconducting state is observed at a finite magnetic field, and the critical temperature is consistent with a spin-triplet order parameter.

Graphene-Based Quantum Hall Interferometer with Self-Aligned Side Gates

Lingfei Zhao et al.

Summary: The vanishing band gap of graphene has posed challenges for creating high-quality quantum point contacts. However, recent advances have allowed split-gate QPCs to operate using the highly resistive v = 0 state. Researchers have developed a simple method of fabricating QPCs by etching a narrow trench in the graphene sheet, separating the conducting channel from self-aligned graphene side gates. This technique has enabled the creation and study of a quantum Hall interferometer.

Strongly correlated excitonic insulator in atomic double layers

Liguo Ma et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a strongly correlated two-dimensional excitonic insulator ground state in transition metal dichalcogenide semiconductor double layers, providing direct thermodynamic evidence for the state. Capacitance measurements show that the exciton fluid is compressible but charge-incompressible. An exciton phase diagram reveals both the Mott transition and interaction-stabilized quasi-condensation.

Quantum anomalous Hall effect from intertwined moire bands

Tingxin Li et al.

Summary: This study reveals the observation of quantum anomalous Hall effect in AB-stacked MoTe2/WSe2 moire heterobilayers, which exhibits unique band topology characteristics. At half band filling, quantized Hall resistance and vanishing longitudinal resistance are observed, indicating a topological phase transition induced by an out-of-plane electric field.

Fractional Chern insulators in magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene

Yonglong Xie et al.

Summary: Fractional Chern insulators (FCIs) are lattice analogues of fractional quantum Hall states and have been recently observed in magic-angle twisted BLG at low magnetic field. The appearance of these states at 5 T is accompanied by the disappearance of nearby topologically trivial charge density wave states.

A tunable Fabry-Perot quantum Hall interferometer in graphene

Corentin Deprez et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates high-mobility monolayer graphene as an alternative material system for Fabry-Perot quantum Hall interference in the integer quantum Hall regime, allowing for high-visibility Aharonov-Bohm interference tunable through electrostatic gating or magnetic fields. The coherence length of graphene devices at low temperatures enables coherently coupled double Fabry-Perot interferometry and potential investigations into anyonic excitations in fractional quantum Hall states in the future.
