Electronic Janus lattice and kagome-like bands in coloring-triangular MoTe2 monolayers

Le Lei et al.

Summary: This study reports a coloring-triangle lattice MoTe2 monolayer with an electronic Janus lattice, which can control the energy dependence of atomic lattice and pseudo-sublattice. The lattice exhibits Dirac-like and flat electronic bands, and has potential applications as an energy-tunable electron-tunneling barrier.

High-Throughput Computational Screening of Two-Dimensional Semiconductors

Vei Wang et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional materials have attracted attention for their unique physical properties and their ability to meet the demands of nanoscale devices. In this study, we conducted high-throughput calculations and screening to identify 73 direct-gap and 183 indirect-gap 2D nonmagnetic semiconductors based on criteria for thermodynamic, mechanical, dynamic, and thermal stabilities, as well as conductivity type. A database of these materials was created, providing a platform for computational modeling and design of new 2D semiconductors and heterostructures in applications such as photocatalysis and nanoscale devices. Additionally, a linear fitting model was proposed to accurately evaluate band gap, ionization energy, and electron affinity of 2D semiconductors with lower computational cost compared to hybrid DFT methods.

Manipulation of Dirac Fermions in Nanochain-Structured Graphene

Wen-Han Dong et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a theoretical mechanism for manipulating Dirac fermions in graphene by nanopatterning, changing the Dirac cone shape and tilt by selectively chemically absorbing the material. By altering the inter-AC coupling strength with different adsorption species, such as halogen vs hydrogen, the shape and tilt of the Dirac cone can be modified. Investigating the topological edge states and transport properties reveals the potential for designing nanostructures with novel functionality.

Realization of an Antiferromagnetic Superatomic Graphene: Dirac Mott Insulator and Circular Dichroism Hall Effect

Yinong Zhou et al.

Summary: By using first-principles calculations, the electronic and topological properties of an antiferromagnetic superatomic graphene lattice on a bipartite honeycomb lattice have been investigated. The material displays a Dirac Mott insulating state with a gap opening at the Dirac point due to long-range antiferromagnetic order, and shows a circular dichroism Hall effect with opposite directions of transversal Hall currents for left- and right-handed circularly polarized light.

Room-temperature non-Dirac quantum anomalous Hall states, half semiconductors, and strain-tuned half metals in monolayer zirconium trihalide

Jiayong Zhang et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional ferromagnetic materials ZrX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) are investigated for their potential in quantum anomalous Hall states and spintronics devices. The intrinsic FM states are found to be robust against strain, and the TC can be effectively tuned by strain. Room-temperature non-Dirac QAH states and half metals can be realized in monolayer ZrX3 through strain engineering and electron doping. The findings suggest that monolayers ZrX3 are promising candidates for room-temperature QAH and spintronics applications.
