Tuning of Interlayer Interaction in MoS2-WS2 van der Waals Heterostructures Using Hydrostatic Pressure

Chenkai Li et al.

Summary: Van der Waals heterostructures have attracted significant attention due to their unique physical properties and potential applications. In this study, pressure-dependent Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopic studies were performed on MoS2-WS2 heterostructures with different twist angles. It was observed that as the interlayer interaction increases under pressure, an electronic phase transition and a structural phase transition occur in the HS-24.5 degrees structures, but not in the HS-54 degrees structures. The optical properties of HS-24.5 degrees structures are more sensitive to pressure, which can be attributed to the larger tunable interlayer space.

Exchange between Interlayer and Intralayer Exciton in WSe2/WS2 Heterostructure by Interlayer Coupling Engineering

Mengqi Zhu et al.

Summary: This study reveals the influence of high pressure and tensile strain on interlayer and intralayer excitons in the WSe2/WS2 heterostructure. High pressure can transform intralayer excitons to interlayer excitons, while tensile strain leads to the transformation of interlayer excitons to intralayer excitons.

High ambipolar mobility in cubic boron arsenide revealed by transient reflectivity microscopy

Shuai Yue et al.

Summary: Researchers used pump-probe transient reflectivity microscopy to monitor the diffusion of photoexcited carriers in semiconducting cubic boron arsenide (c-BAs) and obtained their mobility. The experiments revealed a high ambipolar mobility for c-BAs, indicating its potential applications in high-performance electronics and optoelectronics.

Pressure Tuning Resonance Raman Scattering in Monolayer, Trilayer, and Many-Layer Molybdenum Disulfide

Jose H. Aguiar Sousa et al.

Summary: In this study, a pressure-dependent resonance Raman study was conducted on one-layer, three-layer, and many-layer MoS2 materials near the A excitonic transitions. The results showed that most phonon modes exhibited a linear blue shift, except for the second-order phonon modes. The resonance of the A1g mode occurred at different pressures for different layers of MoS2.

Direct Laser Patterning of a 2D WSe2 Logic Circuit

Chao Zhu et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the direct laser patterning of WSe2 devices via light-induced hole doping, demonstrating the achievement of different levels of hole doping without obvious sample thinning. The oxidation of laser-radiated WSe2 is identified as the origin of carrier doping, and the PN junction of the device transitions from a pure lateral to a vertical-lateral hybrid structure with increased thickness after laser irradiation. Additionally, a NOR gate circuit is successfully demonstrated by directly patterning p-doped channels using laser irradiation, showcasing simplified device fabrication procedures and promising applications in large scale logic circuits.

Robust Interlayer Exciton in WS2/MoSe2 van der Waals Heterostructure under High Pressure

Xiaoli Ma et al.

Summary: Researchers have successfully achieved quantitative tuning of intralayer excitons in WS2/ MoSe2 heterostructures and observed the transition from intralayer excitons to interlayer excitons. The energy of interlayer excitons is in a locked or superstable state, unaffected by pressure.

Metallization of Molybdenum Diselenide under Nonhydrostatic Compression

Bao Liu et al.

Summary: Metallization of molybdenum diselenide under nonhydrostatic compression at 35.7 GPa was studied experimentally, showing a significant decrease in resistivity and increase in carrier density, leading to metallic behavior. The mechanisms of anisotropic-stress-induced metallization at this reduced initiation pressure have been discussed.
