Controlling the hierarchical microstructure of bioceramic scaffolds by 3D printing of emulsion inks

Quyang Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, hierarchical porous hydroxyapatite (hpHA) scaffolds with high porosity and superior mechanical properties were fabricated using 3D printing of emulsion inks. The scaffolds exhibited improved cell attachment and proliferation, indicating their potential for bone tissue engineering applications. The reported method of 3D printing emulsion inks is a promising strategy for the fabrication of highly porous scaffolds.

Effect of M3+ (M = Bi, Al) co-doping on the luminescence enhancement of Ca2ZnSi2O7:Sm3+ orange-red-emitting phosphors

Xi Shui et al.

Summary: In this study, the luminescence properties of Ca2ZnSi2O7:Sm3+ phosphors were enhanced by co-doping with Bi3+/Al3+ via the sol-combustion method. The Bi3+/Al3+ co-doping did not change the tetragonal structure of Ca2ZnSi2O7, and resulted in significant enhancement of luminescence intensity. These co-doped phosphors show potential for application as red phosphors in white light emitting diodes.
