The Thousand-Pulsar-Array programme on MeerKAT - VIII. The subpulse modulation of 1198 pulsars

X. Song et al.

Summary: We present a study on the subpulse modulation properties of 1198 pulsars using the Thousand-Pulsar-Array programme on MeerKAT. We find that about 35% of the pulsars analyzed exhibit drifting subpulses, which become more pronounced towards the death line. Furthermore, our study reveals the detailed evolution of drifting subpulses across the overall pulsar population, with the modulation period following a V-shaped evolution with respect to the characteristic age.

The Southern-sky MWA Rapid Two-metre (SMART) pulsar survey-II. Survey status, pulsar census, and first pulsar discoveries

N. D. R. Bhat et al.

Summary: In Paper I, an overview of the Southern-sky MWARapid Two-metre (SMART) survey, including its design and search pipeline, was presented. The survey has progressed to 75% of the planned sky coverage through the utilization of the compact configuration of the Phase II array during multiple windows of opportunity. The ongoing analysis has resulted in new pulsar discoveries, as well as the re-detection of previously incorrectly characterized pulsars.

The Southern-sky MWA Rapid Two-metre (SMART) pulsar survey-I. Survey design and processing pipeline

N. D. R. Bhat et al.

Summary: This research presents an overview of the SMART survey, which uses the Murchison Widefield Array to survey the southern sky for pulsars and fast transients. The survey takes advantage of the MWA's large field of view and voltage-capture system. Each observation generates thousands of tied-array beams for pulsar searching. The survey will also generate a valuable digital record of the low-frequency sky.

Revisiting the subpulse drifting phenomenon in PSR J1822-2256: drift modes, sparks, and emission heights

Parul Janagal et al.

Summary: In this study, we conducted a detailed investigation of subpulse drifting in PSR J1822-2256 using the upgraded Giant Meterwave Radio Telescope (uGMRT). Our observations revealed four distinct subpulse drifting modes and identified new features not previously reported. We also explored the frequency dependence of the pulsar emission and discussed its implications for the emission mechanism and spark configuration.

Independent Discovery of a Nulling Pulsar with Unusual Subpulse Drifting Properties with the Murchison Widefield Array

Samuel J. McSweeney et al.

Summary: The independent discovery of PSR J0026-1955 with the Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) is reported. This pulsar has a period of around 1.306 s, a dispersion measure of about 20.869 pc cm(-3), and a nulling fraction of approximately 77%. The long dwell times of the MWA survey make it sensitive to similarly bright, intermittent pulsars with long nulls.

MeerKAT Observations of the Reversing Drifting Subpulses in PSR J1750-3503

Andrzej Szary et al.

Summary: This paper presents an analysis of subpulse drift in PSR J1750-3503, which is characterized by abrupt changes in drift direction. Using a carousel model, it is suggested that the drift is caused by the rotation of subpulses around the magnetic axis.

D. B. Melrose et al.

Summary: The study critically examines three widely favoured pulsar radio emission mechanisms and finds that none of them are plausible as the generic pulsar radio emission mechanism for 'plausible' assumptions about the pulsar plasma.
