Talarostatin, a vermistatin derivative from the soil-derived fungus Talaromyces thailandensis PSU-SPSF059

Baiq Nila Sari Ningsih et al.

Summary: The soil-derived fungus Talaromyces thailandensis PSU-SPSF059 produced a new vermistatin derivative called talarostatin, along with seven known compounds. The structures of these compounds were identified through extensive spectroscopic analysis. The absolute configuration of talarostatin was determined by comparing experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism data. The antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities of the isolated secondary metabolites were also evaluated.

Nanoliposomes Containing Carvacrol and Carvacrol-Rich Essential Oils as Effective Mosquitoes Larvicides

Alireza Sanei-Dehkordi et al.

Summary: The larvicidal effects of essential oils of Satureja khuzestanica and Zataria multiflora, as well as their components, carvacrol, were investigated in this study. The use of nanoliposomal forms yielded better results compared to non-formulated states. These findings suggest that these samples could be potential green larvicides for other mosquito populations.

Discovery of mosquitocides from fungal extracts through a high-throughput cytotoxicity-screening approach

Liang Jin et al.

Summary: A high-throughput screening approach was developed to discover new mosquitocides from fungal extracts, with a candidate extract from Penicillium toxicarium showing high toxicity to mosquito larvae and adults. This study showcases the effectiveness of the screening method and the potential for further development of these fungal extracts as mosquitocides.
