Alkali salts of amino acids as alkaline additives for neutralization of acidic corrosion inhibitors

Tim Naundorf et al.

Summary: We propose alkali salts of amino acids as inexpensive and environmentally friendly additives for acidic corrosion inhibitors. These salts effectively protect iron and steel in slightly alkaline aqueous environments and have low leaching rates of Co and Ni. Taurine and aminohexanoic acid are particularly effective additives, surpassing the performance of current amino alcohols. Glu and Tau synergistically interact with carboxylic acid and phosphonic acid corrosion inhibitors, with Tau exhibiting a positive impact on carboxyphosphonic acids. Glu also enhances the anti-corrosive properties and acts as an anti-scaling agent.

Glucamines as green alternatives to conventional amino alcohols in metalworking fluids

Tom Seddig et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the performance of the sugar derivative N,N-diethylglucamine (DEGA) as an alkaline additive for acidic corrosion inhibitors. The results show that DEGA exhibits comparable anticorrosive properties to mainstream products and has extremely low leaching levels, making it a suitable substitute for low-leaching additives. DEGA can be synthesized easily and is derived from renewable resources.

Synergistic Inhibition Effect of Chitosan and L-Cysteine for the Protection of Copper-Based Alloys against Atmospheric Chloride-Induced Indoor Corrosion

Elena Messina et al.

Summary: This study presents a new environmentally friendly anticorrosive coating that utilizes a biopolymer matrix and an amino acid to effectively inhibit corrosion on a Copper-based alloy. The Chitosan/l-Cysteine (CH/Cy) coatings demonstrate good anti-corrosion properties against chloride-induced attack, with efficiency improving with a minimal amount of Cy at 0.25 mg/mL.

Comparative Computational Study of L-Amino Acids as Green Corrosion Inhibitors for Mild Steel

Anton Kasprzhitskii et al.

Summary: This research evaluates the inhibitory effect of L-amino acids with different side chain lengths on Fe (100) surfaces using Monte Carlo simulation. The study found that nonpolar and basic amino acids exhibit the best adsorption ability and inhibitory efficiency on the iron surface.
