Molecular Recognition of Imidazole-Based Drug Molecules by Cobalt(III)- and Zinc(II)-Coproporphyrins in Aqueous Media

Galina Mamardashvili et al.

Summary: The selective binding ability of Co(III)- and Zn(II)-coproporphyrins I towards a series of imidazole-based drug molecules was determined using H-1 NMR, spectrophotometric titration, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis. It was found that Co(III)-coproporphyrin I binds two imidazole derivatives in aqueous buffer media, while Zn(II)-coproporphyrin I does not. The stability of mono-axial Co-coproporphyrin imidazole complexes is significantly higher than that of similar complexes of Zn-coproporphyrin I.

Synthesis and Design of Hybrid Metalloporphyrin Polymers Based on Palladium (II) and Copper (II) Cations and Axial Complexes of Pyridyl-Substituted Sn(IV)Porphyrins with Octopamine

Anastasia E. Likhonina et al.

Summary: Supramolecular metalloporphyrin polymers were obtained by binding tetrapyrrolic macrocycle peripheral nitrogen atoms to Pd(II) cations and Sn(IV)porphyrins extra-ligands reaction centers to Cu(II) cations, and their structure and formation mechanism were established. The hydrophobic Sn(IV)-porphyrin oligomers and polymers in solution were found to be resistant to UV radiation and changes in solution temperature. The investigated polyporphyrin nanostructures were determined to be porous materials with predominance cylindrical mesopores.

1H NMR study of kinetics of the Ni(II) and Zn(II) cations complex formation with 2-aza-5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-21-carbaporphyrin

V. V. Sobornova et al.

Summary: The methodology of 1H NMR study was developed to investigate the kinetics of complex formation between Ni(II) and Zn(II) cations with [2-N, 21-CH]TPP I. The rate constants of the processes were determined using the pseudo-first and pseudo-second order models. The methodology allows for accurate identification and evaluation of the effects of donor-acceptor and solvation interactions in the complex formation of d-metal cations with inverted tetrapyrrole macrocyclic ligands.

Water Solubilization and Thermal Stimuli-Triggered Release of Porphyrin Derivatives Using Thermoresponsive Polysaccharide Hydroxypropyl Cellulose for Mitochondria-Targeted Photodynamic Therapy

Riku Kawasaki et al.

Summary: This study presents a facile method for the preparation and release of a water-soluble photosensitizer using hydroxypropyl cellulose, achieving effective tumor therapy. The loading capacity and size of the photosensitizer complex can be manipulated by varying the temperature of the solution, and the release of the photosensitizer can be triggered by a heating process, leading to mitochondria-targeted photodynamic therapy.
