Survey of Dipeptidyl Peptidase III Inhibitors: From Small Molecules of Microbial or Synthetic Origin to Aprotinin

Marija Abramic et al.

Summary: This review discusses natural and synthetic compounds with inhibitory activity towards DPP III in mammals, as well as strategies and mechanisms of inhibitory actions. Some of these inhibitors exhibit high activity at low nanomolar or low micromolar concentrations. The review also introduces oligopeptides from the hemorphin group and transition-state peptidomimetics inhibitors as potential DPP III inhibitors.

Identification of the DPP-IV Inhibitory Peptides from Donkey Blood and Regulatory Effect on the Gut Microbiota of Type 2 Diabetic Mice

Chaoyue Ma et al.

Summary: This study identified and characterized peptides extracted from donkey blood. Sephadex G-25 medium with MW < 3 kDa showed the highest inhibition capacity of dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV). UPLC-MS/MS identified 334 peptides, out of which 16 active peptides were finalized through screening and molecular docking analysis. These active peptides (MW < 3 kDa) were found to improve blood glucose levels and glucose tolerance in type 2 diabetic mice, facilitate the healing of damaged liver and pancreas structure, and to some extent, enhance the intestinal micro-ecological environment of diabetic mice.

Next-Generation Personalized Medicine: Implementation of Variability Patterns for Overcoming Drug Resistance in Chronic Diseases

Yaron Ilan

Summary: Chronic diseases pose a significant challenge to healthcare, and non-responsiveness to chronic therapies is a major obstacle to their effectiveness. Variability in drug response is associated with the loss of drug effectiveness. This review proposes a three-phase platform for overcoming drug resistance, which includes introducing irregularity, developing a personalized pattern of irregularity, and implementing individualized genetic and proteomic-based methods to improve therapeutic efficacy.

Methanol Skin Mucus Extract of Mrigal (Cirrhinus mrigala) Fish Peptide Targeting Viral Particles of Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis Virus (IPNV) and Infectious Salmon Anemia Virus (ISAV): an in silico Approach

Arun Sridhar et al.

Summary: The study extracted skin mucus proteins from freshwater fish Cirrhinus mrigala and identified diverse proteins through LC-MS/MS analysis. Gene Ontology enrichment analysis was used to classify the proteins based on biological process, cellular process, and molecular functions. The modelling of a peptide from the mucus extract showed potential interactions with viral particles, suggesting a novel peptide candidate for aquaculture viral disease control.
