Solubilities and Transport Properties of CO2, Oxalic Acid, and Formic Acid in Mixed Solvents Composed of Deep Eutectic Solvents, Methanol, and Propylene Carbonate

Noura Dawass et al.

Summary: In this study, molecular simulations were used to compute the properties of mixed solvents composed of deep eutectic solvents (DES) and organic solvents. The results show that adding DES to the organic solvents can increase the solubilities of oxalic and formic acids, but also increases the density and viscosity of the mixed solvents. Additionally, the self-diffusivities and ionic conductivities decrease as more DES is added to the mixtures.

Solubility of CO2 in Aqueous Formic Acid Solutions and the Effect of NaCl Addition: A Molecular Simulation Study

Dominika O. Wasik et al.

Summary: The study found that the solubility of CO2 in aqueous solutions increases with increasing concentration of HCOOH until a certain point, after which the NaCl concentration has no significant effect on the solubility. This suggests a complex interplay between HCOOH concentration, NaCl concentration, and CO2 solubility in the system.

Solubility of CO2 in Aqueous Formic Acid Solutions and the Effect of NaCl Addition: A Molecular Simulation Study

Dominika O. Wasik et al.

Summary: This study investigated the dependence of CO2 solubility in aqueous HCOOH solutions with electrolytes on the composition and NaCl concentration through Continuous Fractional Component Monte Carlo simulations, and found that the solubility of CO2 is affected by both NaCl concentration and HCOOH concentration.

Recent advances in the continuous fractional component Monte Carlo methodology

A. Rahbari et al.

Summary: This paper reviews recent advances in the Continuous Fractional Component Monte Carlo (CFCMC) methodology, which has gained attention for simulations of adsorption, phase equilibria, and reaction equilibria. The main features of the CFCMC method include increased molecule exchange efficiency, direct calculation of chemical potential, and direct calculation of partial molar properties from a single simulation.

Solubility of Carbon Dioxide, Hydrogen Sulfide, Methane, and Nitrogen in Monoethylene Glycol; Experiments and Molecular Simulation

Noura Dawass et al.

Summary: Experimental measurements and Monte Carlo simulations were used in this study to investigate the solubility of CO2 in MEG, showing good agreement at low pressures but deviations at high pressures. The order of solubility of gases in MEG at 373.15 K was determined, with the potential need for force field modifications to improve predictions under high pressure and low temperature conditions.

Computational Screening of Physical Solvents for CO2 Pre-combustion Capture

Wei Shi et al.

Summary: A computational scheme was used to screen physical solvents for CO2 pre-combustion capture, identifying diethyl sebacate with favorable physical properties and absorption performance. Experimental confirmation of diethyl sebacate's promising performance in CO2 capture was obtained, attributing to its low water loading and favorable CO2 interaction. The study also discovered a strong linear positive correlation between CO2 and H2O interactions with the same functional groups.

New Features of the Open Source Monte Carlo Software Brick-CFCMC: Thermodynamic Integration and Hybrid Trial Moves

H. Mert Polat et al.

Summary: The paper introduces two new major features added to the Monte Carlo (MC) simulation code Brick-CFCMC for phase- and reaction equilibria calculations: thermodynamic integration for computing excess chemical potentials (mu(ex)) and hybrid MC/MD translation and rotation trial moves. These new features significantly increase the efficiency of sampling the configuration space.

Vapor pressures and vapor phase compositions of choline chloride urea and choline chloride ethylene glycol deep eutectic solvents from molecular simulation

Hirad S. Salehi et al.

Summary: This study computed vapor pressures and vapor phase compositions of choline chloride urea (ChClU) and choline chloride ethylene glycol (ChClEg) DESs using Monte Carlo simulations, finding that the vapor phases of both DESs were dominated by the most volatile component. Higher vapor pressures were observed for ChClEg compared to ChClU due to the higher volatility of ethylene glycol compared to urea.
