The neural basis of Tetris gameplay: implicating the role of visuospatial processing

Thomas Agren et al.

Summary: This study aimed to characterize brain areas involved in the visuospatial aspects of Tetris gameplay. The results demonstrated that engaging in Tetris gameplay recruits brain circuits associated with visuospatial processing. These findings support the use of Tetris as a task competing with dysfunctional mental imagery in interventions.

Using a daily diary for monitoring intrusive memories of trauma: A translational data synthesis study exploring convergent validity

Laura Singh et al.

Summary: This study provides initial evidence of the convergent validity of a daily diary for monitoring intrusive memories, which is consistent with widely used questionnaire measures. The diary may offer a more flexible approach to obtaining information about intrusive memories in clinical and research settings.

Reducing childbirth-related intrusive memories and PTSD symptoms via a single-session behavioural intervention including a visuospatial task: A proof-of-principle study

Camille Deforges et al.

Summary: This study tested a single-session behavioral intervention for reducing childbirth-related intrusive memories and symptoms of childbirth-related posttraumatic stress disorder (CB-PTSD). The results showed that participants had a significant reduction in the number of intrusive memories and CB-PTSD symptom severity after the intervention. The intervention was highly acceptable to the participants.

Prevalence and risk factors of birth-related posttraumatic stress among parents: A comparative systematic review and meta-analysis

Clara-Sophie Heyne et al.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the prevalence rates of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) in relation to childbirth in both mothers and fathers. The results showed higher rates of PTSD and PTSS in mothers compared to fathers. Adequate prevention and intervention strategies are needed to support affected parents.

Reducing intrusive memories after trauma via a brief cognitive task intervention in the hospital emergency department: an exploratory pilot randomised controlled trial

Marie Kanstrup et al.

Summary: Intrusive memories are common and distressing after trauma. A novel one-session intervention was found to reduce intrusive memories over the subsequent week. A pilot randomized controlled trial in a Swedish hospital emergency department showed that a brief behavioral intervention resulted in fewer intrusive memories of trauma at both week 1 and week 5 compared to a control condition.

Early psychological interventions for prevention and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and post-traumatic stress symptoms in post-partum women: A systematic review and meta-analysis

P. G. Taylor Miller et al.

Summary: Early psychological interventions within 72 hours following traumatic childbirth are more effective in reducing traumatic stress symptoms in post-partum women at 4-6 weeks. Further studies of high methodological quality with longer follow-up are needed to substantiate the effectiveness of specific psychological intervention modalities in preventing stress symptoms and PTSD in women following traumatic birth.
