Unfolding the cascade of SERPINA3: Inflammation to cancer

Anjana Soman et al.

Summary: SERPINA3, a member of the SERPIN superfamily, plays a role as a protease inhibitor in maintaining cellular homeostasis. Recent studies have shown its connection to cancer and disease biology, with potential dual roles in different types of cancers. However, its localization, mechanism of action, and effectors in physiological and pathological scenarios are still unclear. This review aims to consolidate the current evidence, highlighting the association of SERPINA3 with cancer hallmarks and confirming its status as an emerging cancer biomarker. Understanding SERPINA3-mediated cancer progression and its targeting could provide insights into cancer therapeutics.

Novel Platform for Regulation of Extracellular Vesicles and Metabolites Secretion from Cells Using a Multi-Linkable Horizontal Co-Culture Plate

Takeo Shimasaki et al.

Summary: The newly developed horizontal-type co-culture plate (HTCP) showed enhanced cell-to-cell communication at high cell densities and allows for control of the degree of co-culture. This novel container is expected to facilitate research on cell-to-cell communication in various fields.
