Rizal Irfandi et al.

Summary: Breast cancer remains a significant global health issue for women. Cancer medications such as cisplatin have unfavorable side effects. A novel complex was synthesized as a potential safe and effective anticancer medication candidate. The complex, created using prolinedithiocarbamate ligands, was characterized and its interaction with cancer cells was studied. The complex demonstrated high anticancer activity in MCF-7 cells and low acute toxicity effect.

High dose isoleucine stabilizes nuclear PTEN to suppress the proliferation of lung cancer

Haiqing Wang et al.

Summary: Cancer cells rely on the supply of amino acids, particularly branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), to meet their increased nutrient demands. Changes in BCAA supply play a role in cancer progression. This study explores the potential anti-tumor mechanism of BCAA and highlights the importance of the IARS-PTEN axis in regulating tumor growth.

Organotin (IV) Dithiocarbamate Compounds as Anticancer Agents: A Review of Syntheses and Cytotoxicity Studies

Nurul Amalina Abd Aziz et al.

Summary: Organotin (IV) dithiocarbamate has gained attention as a therapeutic agent due to its unique properties and increased biological activity. The cytotoxicity of organotin (IV) compounds is influenced by the number of Sn-C bonds and the nature of substituents within the structure. Ligands target and react with molecules to prevent unwanted changes in biomolecules. Organotin (IV) dithiocarbamate compounds have various effects at the cellular, biochemical, and molecular levels, and their toxicity depends on their structure. This mini-review focuses on the synthesis, elemental and spectroscopic analyses, and potential cytotoxic effects of these compounds.

In silico molecular docking and dynamic simulation of eugenol compounds against breast cancer

Hezha O. Rasul et al.

Summary: Breast cancer is a severe problem globally, and its treatment faces challenges such as adverse effects and therapeutic resistance. This study focused on the potential of eugenol compounds, which have strong interactions with breast cancer receptors. Through drug-likeness evaluation and molecular docking, certain eugenol compounds showed promising anti-breast cancer activity. Among them, Eugenol cinnamaldehyde demonstrated the best docking score, followed by Aspirin eugenol ester and 4-Allyl-2-methoxyphenyl cinnamate.

Synthesis, computational and biological studies of alkyltin(IV) N-methyl-N-hydroxyethyl dithiocarbamate complexes

Jerry O. Adeyemi et al.

Summary: Two organic tin(IV) complexes with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties were synthesized and characterized, with butyltin(IV)-N-hydroxyethyl dithiocarbamate showing better cytotoxicity and antioxidant activity compared to methyltin(IV)-N-hydroxyethyl dithiocarbamate. The coordination of these complexes was through two sulfur atoms of the dithiocarbamate group, leading to a distorted octahedral geometry around the tin atom as shown by DFT calculation.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.
