Effect of Copper Substitution on the Electrocatalytic Activity of ZnMn2O4 Spinel Embedded on Reduced Graphene Oxide Nanosheet for the Oxygen Evolution Process

Salma Aman et al.

Summary: A simple and basic procedure was applied to fabricate Cu-substituted ZnMn2O4/rGO spinel nanosized composite, which showed excellent electrocatalytic efficiency for OER. The composite exhibited low overpotential, low onset potential, small Tafel slope, high electrochemical surface area, electron transfer coefficient and exceptional stability, making it a promising material for energy generation and other fields.

Synergistic photodegradation of methylene blue by Sm doped Fe2O3 photocatalyst under sunlight

H. A. Alburaih et al.

Summary: The growing population has caused an increase in water contamination, prompting the development of an efficient and eco-friendly catalyst to remove pollutants from water bodies. This study presents the development of a Sm-doped Fe2O3 photocatalyst through a low-cost sol-gel route for degrading methylene blue under sunlight. Various characterizations were conducted to analyze the photocatalyst, confirming the successful doping of Sm and the enhanced photocatalytic performance attributed to structural variations and efficient charge carriers separation/transportation. The synergistic photocatalytic performance of the doped catalyst proves its potential in water remediation.

Visible light driven Ni doped hematite for photocatalytic reduction of noxious methylene blue

Asma M. Alenad et al.

Summary: In this study, pure Fe2O3 and three different Ni-doped Fe2O3 nanoparticles with doping concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15% were synthesized using an eco-friendly hydrothermal approach. The materials were characterized using various techniques, which confirmed the incorporation of Ni2+ ions into Fe2O3 and the reduction in particle size and aggregation. The Ni doping also resulted in a decrease in bandgap energy and an enhancement in photocatalytic activity. Among the samples, 10% Ni-doped Fe2O3 nanoparticles exhibited the highest methylene blue degradation after 100 minutes.

Al-doped yttrium iron garnets Y3AlFe4O12: Synthesis and properties

A. Belous et al.

Summary: In this study, a method for synthesizing nanosize particles of Y3AlFe4O12 garnet ferrite by precipitation in aqueous solutions at constant pH has been demonstrated. It was found that the filtration coefficient is three times greater when iron and aluminum hydroxides are precipitated simultaneously compared to when all hydroxides are precipitated simultaneously. After treatment at 800 degrees C, crystalline nanoparticles with an average particle size of 60-70 nm are formed. The ceramics obtained after proper heat treatment exhibit high density and good electrophysical properties.
