Judd-Ofelt analysis and waveguide fabrication of Dy:LPS

Summary: The three spectroscopic parameters of Dy:LPS were calculated using the Judd-Ofelt theory, and a planar waveguide was fabricated on Dy:LPS by proton implantation. The dark-mode spectrum was obtained using the prism coupling method, and the refractive index profile of the waveguide structure was reconstructed using RCM. The mode profile of the waveguide was investigated using the end-face coupling technique. The study suggests that Dy:LPS crystal and its waveguide structure have potential applications in integrated optics, especially in the fabrication of solid-state waveguide lasers.

One-dimensional and two-dimensional Er3+-doped germanate glass waveguides by combination of He plus ion implantation and precise diamond blade dicing

Summary: Compact and miniaturized Er3+-doped waveguide structure is an important research direction in integrated optics. In this work, the formation of a one-dimensional waveguide was achieved by bombarding Er3+-doped germanate glass with a 400-keV He+ ion beam. The two-dimensional structure was then fabricated by dicing the surface of the one-dimensional waveguide using a precise diamond blade. The study provides useful information for the fabrication and characterization of optical waveguides for active photonic applications.

An infrared 2D Nd3+-doped phosphate glass waveguide formed by proton implantation and femtosecond laser ablation

The guiding characteristics of the fabricated waveguides were observed and measured through an optical microscope and end-face coupling technique. The results demonstrate the successful fabrication of a 2D waveguide operating at 976 nm in Nd3+-doped phosphate glass, showcasing the potential for versatile and flexible 2D photonic devices.
