Cutaneous nerve fields of the anteromedial lower limb-Determination with selective ultrasound-guided nerve blockade

Summary: This study aimed to determine the variability of peripheral cutaneous nerve fields (CNF) and potential overlap by selectively blocking the intermediate (IFCN) and medial (MFCN) femoral cutaneous nerves and the infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve (IPBSN) in healthy volunteers. The results showed high variability in the size of innervation areas and overlapping patterns between different nerves in the anteromedial lower limb. The study suggests using selective nerve blockades to accurately determine peripheral CNF in clinical practice.

Cryoanalgesia of the anterior femoral cutaneous nerve (AFCN) for the treatment of neuropathy-mediated anterior thigh pain: anatomy and technical description

Summary: This study describes the MRI anatomy of the AFCN and a new technique for cryoanalgesia of the AFCN using MRI guidance, which resulted in successful long-term pain relief in three patients with recalcitrant AFCN-mediated neuropathic pain. The procedures were clinically effective, with a decrease in pain intensity and no major complications, demonstrating the feasibility and safety of this novel approach.

Summary: This study evaluated the prevalence of chronic post-surgical pain (CPSP) and neuropathic pain in patients undergoing TKA for osteoarthritis. The results showed a higher rate of neuropathic pain among CPSP patients and all patients had neuropathic symptoms. The study also found that the neuropathic component of patients' pain occurred mostly in the knee's infrapatellar region.
