Effect of irrigation protocols on chemical smear layer formation over the post-space dentin

Mariana Bena Gelio et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of different irrigation protocols on the formation of chemical smear layer and the incidence of open dentin tubules. The results showed that irrigation with chlorhexidine resulted in the formation of chemical smear layer, while ethanol was ineffective in removing the smear layer. Peracetic acid was found to be more effective in removing the smear layer.
